Any s55's With Performance MODS?!

Not too long ago I started doing performance modifications on my car.
I've always been curious who else on the board with a s55 also had mods.

If you DO have mods, mind sharing the different mods you have and any input?!

So if you have mods please share, just wanted to see how well the s-class holds up to engine modifications. I understand many may say s-class is not a mod worthy car blah..blah.. you should get an E-class blah..blah...

Ultimately i LOVE the s-class, big, comfy, and good length. Love the overall look and performance; just looking to ENHANCE the performance thats all!

let me start...

FD Short-tube Headers, ASP 180mm (tomorrow), Upper and Lower Heat Spacers, Power Chip Custom DYNO Tune (Monday), 3" Straight-Pipe, and Lowering Links

i'll post my comments about my mods after my Custom ECU tune by Power Chip on Monday!
and still looking for an 82mm throttle body

nice bro..

i dont really have money to spend on engine mods like that..
i only have K&N filter, custom wrap air intake tubes, deleted rear resonator and gutted front grille for better air flow.. other then that stock..

btw..let us know about the ecu tune...and the asp pulley..i been looking into that too..

After the K&N filter upgrades, did not notice too much of a difference.

Well I do have the K&N's on there as well!
Anyways I got the ASP 180mm Pulley on today, and i definitely noticed a huge difference in power! well mostly because i came from stock pulley, but the car definitely drove more aggressive. I didn't floor it or anything like that yet, because I'm waiting for my Custom PC tune on monday before i drive it hard. But the car drives like a dream, so far so good! =)
I DID notice the increased engine temperature, but not that big of a deal to me "yet". Temperature haven't gone up higher then 90 degrees, so I'm not really worried.

At this moment, I can hardly wait for Monday. I can only imagine the difference it'll make on performance. In the mean time, still searching for an 82mm TB. Right now I'm about 90% sure I'll go with OEM, and get a custom bracket and what not made to fit on to the car.

Anyways I will keep all of you posted! =D

Great! Nice to see the big S55 pumping some extra boost. A tune should definitely dial in things. Just to clarify is your car running 2 heat exchangers or do you need to upgade it like the E55s when going to a 180mm pulley. Don't forgot to make sure your IC pump is working good as well. Keep us posted!

My car has 2 heat exchangers, so i don't think there is a need for a HE upgrade. We'll see what happens, but it seems to be running well, and not over heating at all, also my IC pump is running fine since i have 5 year warranty on them, I won't bother buying a Johnson pump!

but yes, i'll definitely keep you guys posted after the tune!

Great! All the tools for making savagery on the street. I'm interested in hearing what you dyno when you go to get tuned. The Throttle body will help with airflow up top and help that beast breathe even better.

Hi Shango Ashe. I have done a lot of testing and modifying of these 55 amg engines and a 180 mm pulley is just to big. 175 mm is the right size. When revving up the S/C, you produce alot of heat and this results in poor inlet temperature if you are hard on throttle for a few times. Best option is the kleemann pulley with the ECU upgrade. This is the best on the marked. And adding the headers really allow your engine to breathe and move the temperature away from the Cylinder head resulting in more advanced timing thus more HP.

Just curious, why the endless search for more horsepower and torque? Is 500 BHP not enough for street use or do you plan to race this big German luxury sedan?

To me, it's like asking why drive a 500hp Mercedes when you can drive a Honda Civic on the street? Is driving from point A to point B in a motor vehicle not good enough?

I search for more horsepower and torque not because I need it, but for my personal hobby, amusement, and of course just for the heck of it.

Don't get me wrong, because I "AM" satisfied with the car. But to me, it is hard to find a vehicle with amazing luxury, which has performance like a sports car! I don't want two door, or a small sedan. I love big, luxurious, and fast cars. Thats part of the reason why I chose the s-class to begin with.

But really, this car is truthfully amazing. I'm always surprised by it's power. Just can't stop craving for more!

AMAZING! haha

i love the power, its so much more aggressive and torquey.

Looked under the hood, and there is still NO sign of wobble. Not that i want one or anything...

BUT there isn't so thats a good sign!! haha i can't wait for Monday!

I can understand the pursuit of more BHP in a Honda Civic but an S55 with 500 BHP from the AMG factory is already overkill for everyday driving. In fact I am often so frustrated because everybody else on the road seem so slow around me.

But hey it is your money, your car and your hobby, so don't let me or anyone else slow you down.

well it also depend on your age...if you in your 40's or 50's with
500 BHP .its too much power...

im guessing
ShangoAshe is probably in his late 20's...
