Upgrading to current-release fog lights on an S class
I'm considering a 2007-2010 S65 but I -really- like the new "LED light bar" style fog lights; I just saw a newish S550 and they really struck me as a "must have". But having owned a number of CL600 and SL65 and so on, I'd really like someone else to take that initial $100K depreciation hit for me!
Has anyone done this upgrade? Sometimes things that you'd -think- would be trivial are not; for example, my S8 has an "early style" round fog light that they switched to rectangular mid-year, and they've discontinued the old one. My wife had plowed my lower fascia into a concrete parking lot barrier and it was significant fabrication for the body shop to keep the round fog lights, because the only parts now available are for the rectangular, and this is all within the same model year!
Conversely, however, I remember upgrading my old '97 BMW 750iL's tail lights to the newer clear plastic style of the '01 and it took about 10 minutes. So the key is finding someone who's done it before and asking how hard it was.
So, this is me asking :-)
Thanks!
Dave

And yes, after posting, I realize the irony in how much work it was to retain round fog lights on the S8 and then asking how to get rid of them on the S65, but the heart wants what it wants...

looks like you might have to change out the front bumper as well?
