Putting in a new Coolant Thermostat

I recently got a check engine light coming home from work on my 3 mile ride, so it didn't take long for it to go off.

When I got home I hooked up my code reader and got the P0128 code. I did a little research and found quite a bit for other Mercedes, but surprise surprise, nothing for the M113K engine.

Since this was the first time dealing with the front of the engine, it took some time to remove the housing. Plus all the $27-35 thermostats with housing are not the correct part. These parts are sold at auto parts places like O'Reilly, autozone, etc. Since I'm isolated to the Oregon Coast, there are only 2 places for parts, and it was a saturday so my mechanic is closed. I did a search on ebay, and found the one I needed, that is OEM for $97. But now I have to wait till the end of next week to get the part. I broke a piece off my housing so I couldn't reuse it Otherwise you can buy the $27 part at autozone and swap the thermostats...

Once I do I'll start taking picture, so the next person will actually know what they are doing. It's not difficult, but pics would have been nice when I started...

You can drill a 3/16 to mod the stock thermostat.
