S55 Question
Sorry to start a new thread. I can usually find what I need by searching the site. That being said I am having some problems with my Benz. It runs for about 5 minutes and shuts down. Wait 10 minutes and it drives. I replaced the crank position sensor as every one says to do. Still shuts down. Could it be a RELAY? Also my head lights flash once in a while driving. I was getting a ABS light for a while but that went away. Any ideas? Thanks so much.

I have not had it on STAR. Though tonight I went out and noticed when I reved the engine the left head light would go out and then it would come back on. Then it died and would not restart.
Do only dealers have STAR? I dont want to pay to have it towed over to dealer and then have it be something easy like a relay. Then get charged $750. But if it is my only choice ............. so be it. Thanks for trying to help. I really appreciate it.

Most independant Mercedes garages have STAR aswell, best to ring around and ask them before getting it towed anywhere.
Worse case scenario, even if the only STAR machine available in your area is at the dealers then it may still work out better to have the car towed there and let them diagnose it. They shouldnt charge more than about $150 i would imagine, plus your towing costs.
Otherwise like i said, you could spend upwards of $1,000 on parts and labour when taking guesses and still have the same problem. When it comes to electrical parts, best to get it diagnosed right the first time, it works out cheaper in the end.
