ABC Pump install. Bleeding issue. I hope. lol

My 2001 S55 had a leaking tandem pump. I ordered a used one from a place I deal with often whom said it worked fine when they received the car. It actually looks new. It came of a 2002 S600.

After replacing the pump the car wont raise. I did the rodeo procedure several times. I then read the solenoid on the pump needs to be jumped using a 12v connector to let fluid in. I did this without any luck.

Is there anything else I can try? Is there bleeder valves anywhere?

Thanks in advance!

Hope you didn't kill the pump running it dry. The way you get things flowing is you must pressurize the ABC tank with an air charge. Not much say 10 psi or less and that forces the fluid flowing. Then the pump should take over after that.

There was some fluid in there from before. I didnt run the car too long so should be fine. I pressurized it with out any luck. I did pull the return line out some and did see fluid flowing.

Not trying to be a pessimist but I have a bad feeling about that pump. You said you preformed the rodeo several times with no luck. From my experience a few seconds without the oil needed and it is dead. Hopefully I am wrong.
Good luck

one or more blown cells anywhere in the ABC sys will cause the pump to lose its prime easily..strangely enough ive never ever seen a tandem pump not pump fluid that wasnt damaged visibly from collision and ive seen more than 100 get needlessly replaced ..they seeem to be farly tolerant of occasional low fluid levels... if it aint locked up it will pump if everything else is in order.. i have sen some leaks on the ABC side of the pump that required pump removal and were easily fixed if you can find the seals...its not a complex unit if youre brave

It's fixed! I first put a little pressure in the reservoir with no luck. Then a I read a thread were someone disconnected the connector on solenoid attached to the pump. The car popped up about 15 seconds later. So it was not a bad pump. Thanks for all your help!

So the only thing you had to do was disconnect it and nothing else? That's cool, learn something new everyday. Hopefully I never have to do this abc pump again, even though I think so far the a/c compressor is worse to replace.

Alan944: can you confirm?

Did you remove a connector to the pump and simply start the car?

Is the connector to a selenide or a pressure sensor?

Never mind. I didn't need to know. My pump woke up and properly lifted the car when I started it.

That was after a fluid drain/flush, and checking all the valve blocks and accumulators.

Hoping the ABC Warning doesn't show up again for a long time.
