Used 2009 Mercedes S65 Question

Hoping to get some good input from the forum on the topic of a used S65 with roughly 80K miles on the clock. I've been researching these cars a couple years, so I know the usual and while this particular vehicle has higher mileage, it has all records and all the typical things that go wrong have already happened. I'm just curious if it's safe to assume that now they'll be some time to drive and enjoy it, or if one could expect something to continue to pop-up every few thousands miles?

I've read many mixed reviews on these cars. Many owners have said these vehicles have been relatively trouble-free, besides the usual's (ABC pump, coils, etc.)

Any input from owners of these cars would be most helpful.

in a nut shell these cars are very maintenance intensive.

you will enjoy the car but be prepared to spend money on the upkeep

I have a 2007 with 25K miles. Routine maintenance items aside (in my case based on time not mileage) I have had two issues: ABC fluid leak and EVAP purge valve.

I purchased a 4 year extended warranty on mine just in case something catastrophic happens.

From what I've experienced with my 08 S63, I would expect on average $3k to ... yes, $8000 a year in maintenance. Don't laugh. My first 2 months was $11k (in covered repairs though) and it WAS CERTIFIED by the guy that owned it before me, just done at 50k miles. And I bought it with 50,500 miles. Yes, you read that correctly. Luckily I spent $5675 on an extended warranty. It's the extended warranty that covered 90% of these repairs. I didn't have the benefit of a certified car, only the last owner. THANK G*D I bought that warranty!!!

Be prepared to pay a FORTUNE for repairs. Just expect the worst and hope for the best. Maybe you'll be luckier than me. For all I know my car could have been a lemon. LOVE IT THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!! Just get it.

Steve
