S55 AMG K W220 2003 TPMS

Hello!

Over the next week I am having 4 new tyres fitted and the wheels refurbished on my AMG.

It has factory fitted TPMS fitted, however all four have been dead for a few years(batteries).

Mercedes want £105 each for each sensor. Is there a cheaper equivalent?

Attached are photos of the original ones on my alloy, I notice the Audi/Volkswagen have the same frequency and shape, and are £50 each new!

eBay link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3710014448...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Looks exactly like my existing ones:

I don't really want to gamble £200 for it not to work. Does anyone know if they will work?

Also, my car has sat in a garage for the past 3 years apart from its annual trip to the MOT station, which means the battery has gone flat a fair few times. I now have no information on my dials about the TPMS, its as if it thinks it doesn't have them from factory? Does anything need resetting? Another worry spending out £200-£400 on new sensors to then find out the module or something else needs replacing.

I've had a Google and cant seem to come up with much!

Thanks for any help!

Hi there,

For what it is worth.

I found out that the American made Models use different frequencies (315) than European made models (433), so be carefull. I also found the "Merc" prices ridiculous and checked to US market. Dorman USA makes them for both frequencies (Only found that out when I ordered the US frequency ones which do not work for my South African car (German import))
Dorman makes programmable ones but then you have to get a guy with a STAR system to read your TPMS ID's from the computer and you then program those in.
I am waiting for the "New" frequency ones to arrive in the RSA to then put them in to "reactivate the system", so the workability is still to be proven. Search for Dorman on the Web and start a chat with the guys there to guide you through. I paid US$ 276 for a 315 Hz kit (4 sensors + programming tool) and US$ 40.38 each for the 433 Hz.
Cheers for now.
