S55 AMG 2003 ABC light briefly comes on on lift out
Hi all
I am since July 2014 the owner of a Mercedes S55 AMG Kompressor and Living in South Africa. The car has been given a clean bill of health through a scan by Merc (no issues with valves etc) but the ABC light comes on very briefly (you got to watch for it to actually see it but the hear the warning sound) on rare occasions then the suspension (One of them) lift out when "Flying" over a hump in the road at speed. is this normal?

Your pulsation dampeners are bad, I had this same issue a few weeks ago.

Hi Guys, thanks for the response. When I go through my workshop manual I note they distingues between the pulsation dampener.at the valve system and the rear and front suspension pressure reservoirs. There is only 1 pulsation dampener which sit on my european car at the right front fender on the door side behind the plastic wheel inserts. There is one "Front Axle Pressure Reservoir" in the front and one "Rear Axle Pressure Reservoir" and one Return Pressure Reservoir". Any clues from you guys on the difference and which one is causing that alarm.

there's no 5th one. There are 4. 2 large and 2 small. The ones that fail the most are the large ones. I would change out both. ABC fluid doesn't like Nitrogen so do a complete ABC fluid flush after you have fixed it.

Thanks for the reply jnash. Got one of the "nitrogen *****" which fits for the rear and front axel valve blocks. Gambled to change front first and hit the jackpot. Membrane shot and full of fluid. Replaced and solves is the audible alarm and the light. Fluid is on its way to do the flush as the fluid I got out was rather black. Cannot understand why Merc says it is "for life". Talking about "For Life". I also replaced the Supercharger oil this weekend following a great video on Youtube. However, we in South Africa (RSA) struggle to get Mobile jet oil II as recommended by most in the US. Mercedes is as usual very illusive about giving you specs but saying get Mercedes oil and when you order they do not have stock for weeks. I however got Earoshell turbine 560 HTC which is according to the Boeing guys compatible with Mobil jet oil II.(They use both on their jet engines) The colour is the same (Orange/Pink) It looks the same the viscosity is the same the temp ratings are the same. What is your comment on using this Earoshell turbinr 560.
