W221 S65

Today I pulled the trigger and bought a 2007 S65 that has been meticulously maintained with 64,000 miles. I know all the scary stories of these cars but what the hell you only live once. I lived through owning a 2003 S55 for over 6 years and a lot of ABC issues and I still loved her.
The first thing that needs to happen is a ECU tune.

Great car. I love my 07 s65 more than all my other amg's. I have kept my s65 longer than an other vehicle I have had. Great choice enjoy.

Very nice... but we need pics...

I chose to skip the W221 because I like the console mounted shifter. I was looking for an S55 but ended up with a S65. The M275 engine is just amazing....

She finally arrived yesterday. I can't wait to get plates on so I can actually drive it. I bought it sight unseen from California but well loved and cared for.

nice purchase.

keep monitoring the radiator in front of the air intakes. the W221 s65 radiators are prone to break by the air inlets and suck all the coolant into the engine. i have seen 3 cars suffer engine damage due to this

Thanks for the heads up Shardul!
I was considering cold air intake and maybe that would help solve this problem?
I plan on trying my best and doing all the work on this beast myself but we will see. I was able to maintain my 2003 S55 for over 6 years by myself mostly. I do think I need to get the WIS software to help me do this.
Thanks again.

I have never heard of this. Do you mean the radiator itself breaks/cracks?

i work on s65's almost weekly and have never seen or heard of this before. I guess if you ram your car into stuff regularly and the body shop doesnt fix it correctly ?

I would think the S65 cooling system is different from S550's with intercoolers for the turbochargers, etc.

I suppose anything is possible but this is the first time I have heard of this issue.

Thanks, I will keep an eye on it.
