M113K Oil Leak

Hi Guys,

I have this leak on my 03 S55K AMG.

Only spotted it because there was a slight bit of smoke as it's just reached the exhaust manifold. (moving it around in the garage)

I'm wondering if the gasket or oil filler cap leaking is a common problem?

As its in the same area it looks as if it could be either.

Easiest thing would be to clean it up and drive it around and look again, however its off the road for the winter now so that isn't really an option.

Here's a picture:

Thanks!
Chris

Spray it off and leave it for the winter. Valve cover gaskets are common on these, an every 50k replacement (or 5 years), seems to me. But that doesn't look like your valve cover. I'd spray it off and replace the oil filler cap, then not worry about it until you bring it back out.

Cheers,

maw

Thanks for the help.

I cleaned it up yesterday:

Some of the sealant came off when cleaning it up, so we'll see what happens.

I plan on starting her up at the weekend. I will report back!

Its the breather cover.

common issue. No gasket, just sealer.

do a search, its covered many times.
