W221 S65 Reliability

So, as the title says, I'm wondering what the long-term reliability has been like for these as they get farther along in age.

The pre-facelift cars have gotten very reasonable in price, and I've been looking at the possibility of picking one of these up at some point soon.

I've been following this forum for many years, and so far it seems as if the W221 AMG vehicles have been an order of magnitude more reliable than the 220. However, there does always seem to be the threat of impending doom with ABC. I feel as if I hardly read any reports of it giving out on the 221, but that's purely based off observation of the threads on this site, no real hard evidence to back that up.

Other than the occasional electrical glitch, it seems these cars are really not bad at all, and I'm not really afraid to do some basic work myself if it comes down to it. I also know a couple guys that are great indy mechanics.

Thanks in advance for any info, would love to hear ownership stories.
