New 2012 S63 owner
Hello, all! I'm a recent owner of a 2012 S63 with the P030 package. Grey exterior, tan Designo interior, 32k miles, all options except Distronic. Moved up from a 2008 E63, which was a step up from my 2005 C55.
Impressions:
Love the power! It's more of a build-up of power rather than the down-low torque feel of my normally-aspirated E63. Once the car is moving, it's an absolute beast. (Added hp/torque of the P030 package certainly helps.) Handling-wise, I'm surprised how agile the car is with the ABC set on sport. It handles mountain corner-carving with ease.
Mileage is actually great (relatively). Probably about 10% better than my E63 despite having more power/torque and much more weight. Credit the 5.5 liter engine vs. the 6.2.
Inside, it's kind of a mixed bag. Everything is so smooth and elegant, but by removing so many buttons, it takes longer to accomplish small things like changing the radio presets, etc. It's also much more distracting, requiring eyes off the road.
I programmed the 'wild card' button to turn off the ECO, but having to press it every time I turn the car on is a pain. I wish there was an 'always off' setting.
All in all, I'm really pleased with the car and am looking forward to a few years of ownership before figuring out what's next.

I echo every one of your sentiments. Wish I had an all leather wheel too like my 2008 S63 had but in the end, I LOVE THIS CAR TO DEATH!!! Much better looking than the 2012 BMW Alpina B7 I looked at also. The rear of the S63 looks much better to me and I'm a BMW fan for 30 years.

After having driven the car for a couple months now, my original assessment remains, but in addition, I'm amazed that the transmission is so clunky and slow to react. Moving from Park to Reverse or Drive takes a couple seconds, and when you put your foot on the throttle, it's still in the shifting process, so it lurches when it actually selects the gear. I don't know if that's a software thing that can be fixed with an update or if it's just the nature of this transmission. It's nowhere near as smooth as the 7-speed on my E63.

If you have KEYLESS GO do not remove the Start button.
1. Press Start button twice. This sets it to key position 2.
2. Floor gas pedal for 10 seconds.
3. Press Start/Stop once. This turns it OFF.
4. Release gas pedal and wait two minutes.
5. Then start the engine and begin driving.
Other option:
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for 10 seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset. When the 2 minutes are up take your foot off the accelerator and start the engine. Drive away and you should notice a more responsive transmission for a while.
