Planning to Buy 2012 S63: Maintenance Costs?
Hi there,
I'm planning on purchasing a 2012 S63 with 30k miles on it, and was wondering about what I should expect for maintenance costs on it. I will probably keep the car for another five years and 40k miles.
I'm planning to get an extended warranty so am not too concerned about general reliability, but mostly wear-and-tear items (heard the brakes can be rather expensive!) that won't be covered as well as service costs and intervals.
Cheers!

I bought a 2012 S63 back in December with 32k miles on it and have put on 10k since then. Everything has been smooth sailing since then, but I did have some warranty items addressed last week. The auxiliary battery needed to be replaced, and one of the rear headrests didn't retract all the way. Both were fixed within a day (along with an oil change).
If you plan on keeping the car until 70k miles, you're probably OK with the brakes. Unless you really hammer on them, I'm guessing they should last until 80k miles or so. Other than that, just follow the scheduled maintenance, but have it performed at an independent shop, so it's not so $$$.
