Turbo question

I have a '06 S65. I'm used to N/A & S/C motors. This is my first turbo car. I know the specs regarding horsepower & torque an what respective RPM they max at. I finally went into it half-throttle yesterday on an entrance ramp and hit 85 within seconds. Too much traffic to go any faster. I did not hear any turbo whine. At what throttle position would I hear it spool up or do I just need to gun it?

It could also be because I had Megaherz turned up pretty loud...

very hard to hear the turbos. The S class is insulated very well.

The sound you are expecting is hard to hear on these motors stock. There are two little turbos that are muffled by restrictive stock airboxes, and catalytic converters. Entrance ramps are alot of fun with a 65, enjoy, it is designed to be a silent killer. If you are looking to wake it up, removing the cats and a tune will make it a totally different car under WOT.

I finally got to peak underneath the cover last night. Man oh man are those airboxes restrictive. I cannot believe someone hasn't made a custom hood with scoops to go directly into filter/box, LOL.
