S55 493 hp from 2003 - 2005 as a sport sedan?
Hi. I have a w211 e500 which i think is great but im into strive of more power and i like to mod my cars so im thus looking for an amg and i really love the styling of the s55 from 03 - 05.
What i would like to do is to reach 600 bhp, give it a nice vip/sporty look with some minor changes and small details and at last, i would like to do trackdays and other racing events with it. Now, are im totaly crazy and the s55 is not a good car for my plans or would this work?
I were looking at c/clk55 before as they are good for modding and track but they lack the kompressor so making them into a "destroy allmost all other cars in terms of speed" will cost just as much as a c63. Im affraid the e55 will feel just like my e500 with a big motor, which would feel kind of boring.
What do you guys think? What do you do to your s55? Anyone takes them out on twisty roads and have all boys fun and track or is it just good for highways?

I have a 2004 s55 amg and its a load of fun i dont go too crazy ,just put it in manual mode and take it on highways and some curvy roads but nothing too crazy ,i recently did the front strut replacement and valve cover gasket and new rotors and pads with sensors all around ,i have a resonator delete and 2nd cat delete and sounds really good imo i kept stock mufflers and it rumbles very good

However you can only really capitalise on that by fitting rear wheels and tyres to the front as well - then it really become a giant killer.

Everything you guys said sounds like sweet music. Im leaning very much towards the s55. Which tire sizes do you recommend? Is there any major differences between 2003 and 2005 or is it just to find the best ex?

My S55 is a great car but it is not a track days car. I did a national SCCA autocross with it once because my racecar broke.. It is way to heavy and I really don't think it would like going of track.

E55 has airmatic while the S55 has ABC. ABC is AWESOME!! Until it breaks, then its expensive as hell. Also the 2003 has the option to put a cup holder attachment, best mod ever.
I vote S55 either way since its a different platform. I made that mistake moving from s55 to s65 (w220). But at least it had v12 biturbo on the dash to remind me of the power! Good luck with your build, post some pictures up. What I did to mine:
-arrow style led side mirror
-180mm pulley
-cm30 water pump
-eurocharge tune

Sounds great. Now i just need to do some testdriving and find a good s55. I think i will go with kleemann tune, pully, headers and waterpump. I think it should make me reach my 600 bhp goal
