K&N filters on an S65

Filters alone won't do much, the stock filters are large and not restrictive but the box they are in is terrible. You really need to upgrade to a full intake system or it's not worth messing with.
I'd bet, NEW stock filters vs. K&N inserts is barely a difference. People take out old dirty filters and put in nice clean K&Ns and feel a gain, but that happens with clean paper filters too, and they don't get clogged up nearly as fast as the K&N filters do.

If you are talking about air filters the big advantage with KN is you buy them once and then just clean them after that.
The main disadvantage is they can get oil and dust on a MAF and screw up readings. Never heard of this happening on a Merc but have on others.
