The S-class is probably safer.

The S Class is longer and wider so there is more of a chance of you getting hit if you think about since you take up more space on the road lol

If you get in a accident and the E class cant handle it, than it probably does not matter if you are in a S or E class. Both cars are big cars and both offer superior crash protection.

good luck in your search for a new or previously enjoyed mercedes-benz. both vehicles will offer superior crash protection as eluded to above.
