Raced an SL65..
Well, I was out cruising in my C6 Z06 on 75 S. before the car goes to sleep for the winter and some kind of Bens comes up behind me in the fast lane. I move over and as it passes by, I notice it is an SL65. I definitely don't see too many around here of the 65's, or any AMG for that matter.
Anyways, to make a looong story short (We pulled over, talked, exchanged e mails, etc..), we ended up running a few times on the expressway. We were able to slow down to a 55, but that was the best we could do due to upcoming traffic behind us. We would race to about 140 or so with me being ~2 cars ahead everytime, while still pulling when I shut down. My car is stock.
Anywho, great car, sweet looking, and it was the second fastest stock car I have raced this year (FGT being the first)
p.s. I wanted to post this on the Z06 or the Corvette forums only, but they do not allow racing stories, nor does Corvetteforum.com. I am not here to troll, just wanted to post one of the better race stories I had this summer.

nobody pulls over on the Interstate to exchange e-mails and chat.
If it IS the case, think I am gonna skip the S65/SL65. Always having guys trying to flag me down to exchange emails and crap.

We met on the expressway, and he was the one that pointed to pull over after a few throttle exchanges (as in exit, not pull over on the shoulder) I did, pulled in the gas station, and we started talking.
I am not gonna sit here and justify the circumstances to the race. I just thought I would share the story of what happend..

Frankly, I find that somewhat hard to believe. I "raced" a Z06 with my 94 SL600 and I was pulling away. It has always been my assumption that the Corvette driver didn't know what he was doing to let a stock (sorta) SL pull away from him. And a 65 being behind ... not too likely. Gotta assume the driver was a bit tepid. Again, not a likely scenario IMO

The M5 owner could not believe I kicked his butt, but then again, I'm not stock.
The Vette has a better power/weight ratio and can continue to pull. In the end, a de restricted SL65 would get by because of its massive torque.

Looking at your previous contributions to the board, all you do is post about how the Z06 destroys all exotics...and something even comes close you have a litany of excuses as to why:
The reason the 'Vette forums don't allow this crap is, well, because it's crap.
Go away now.

SL55 AMG Black on Berry Red
these kill stories are always hard to judge because more than the cars, it's the drivers IMO. sometimes the drivers don't know how to race, are scared, don't want to REALLY push their cars, etc etc. you guys all know the numbers and figures of both cars. use those to determine who's faster. but i've seen SL65's run low 11's on 1/4 miles. do the corvettes go faster than that?

127.x has been the best trap speed for a stock Z06. I personaly have a best trap of 126 mph, but I have only ran my car about a hanful times at the track. I hate drag racing, but love roll on racing..

These cars are fast but not that fast. No stock Z06 is going to do an 11.2 in the 1/4 unless its going down hill. As far as racing an SL65 it would be a close race and could probably go either way depending on who gets the jump. From a dead stop the Benz will get the jump because the Z06 is a hard car to launch.

That's a pretty good run from your Z06. What kind of 60-foot, 1/8 mile were you getting?
Have you tried running on drag radials yet? if not, you should definitely invest in a set as it will do wonders for lowering your E.T.'s
