W124 Window regulator ?..WEIRD PROBLEM
I know I know...this whole regulator issue has been done to death. But explain this to me...when I remove the regulator and put in on the bench then apply 12V it works great. Up / Down..no problem. Put it back in the car and it won't work. I replaced the console switch (just in case) but it doesn't solve the problem. I checked the motor contacts on the door as I apply the switch and I got 12V to the motor. Now, with it all back together, when I select up (it is stuck down), nothing, BUT, I can hear it clicking. I assume trying to cycle....what am I missing? It is driving me nuts! I REALLY don't want to just buy another regulator if it could be something else. Is there a relay I can't see on the wiring diagram?...just makes me nuts ..

Is there something that controls the regulator to stop the motor when the window gets to the top or bottom?
I have a 1990 MB 300E, with rear window regulator not stopping at the top or bottom, the motor continues to pull on the cable, snapper the end of the cable.

There aren't any micro switches outside the motor. There is probably a tension switch internal to the motor. Try replacing the motor only. Get one from a local wreckers. Pretty easy to do once the door panel is removed. The regulator stays in the door...just the motor comes out.
