Intercooler Pump you didn't know about

After some long nights taking with the manufacture Pierburg Pump Technology. I've tracked down a pump that has amazing flow numbers. This pump was sitting right under our noses.. Who would think to check an N/A motor for a pump that can be used in our supercharged 55s,65's,600's,32's and what not? My research has pionted me to the Mercedes SLS AMG.

Pierburg is the company that makes the stout pump used in new BMW V8 Twin Turbo'ed cars. Only problem is that pump is kind of small. Yet it has pretty good flow numbers at 7.9GPM. So if you think 7.9GPM is good enough for you. You can walk into a BMW dealer and pick that pump up for about $250 or so.

Now if you want something that flows even more? You look to the SLS Mercedes. I know its an N/A powered car, but Mercedes seen a need to put a powerful cooling pump on it. Able to flow 10.56GPM!

Only down side is, its slightly pricey. Retailing from the dealer at about $500.

Below you will see a picture of the pump used on the Mercedes SLS. It has a very strong resemblance to the BMW pump (will post that pumps picture too). Reason? The Mercedes SLS pump is made by the same Mfg that makes the BMW pump. Except the pump used in the SLS is the BMW pumps big brother.

So if you want a really stout pump? I'm going to give you the part number so you can call your local dealer and order one up.

Mercedes SLS cooling pump Part number: A 000 500 04 86

I'm more worried about flowing water too quickly on my stockish setup ( only my H/E is upgraded ). This would be fantastic though on a rear tank setup.

Meziere WP136s has been tested and tried. Flows at 20 gpm work very will with a larger heat exchanger and cost is 199.

Great find! But Shardul is right, I run the Meziere pump with out any issues. This whole week in Houston the temps have been 99-102 degrees and so far no heat soak even when I get a heavy foot.

I've always wondered why no one has used the Jabsco Pumps that can for 20gpm. I know of at least 1 Audi tuner that uses a Jabsco pump.

I have a Meziere pump, but I've never used it. I'd let it go for $100

Keep in mind, I'm not trying to sell the Pierburg pump used on the SLS. Rather give folks something that they can go to the dealer and get. if thats the road they choose to go down.

I think People would be pissed if someone tried to sell them this pump at a higher price than what the common man can get it at.

I know it was a great find, but for more flow and less than half the price I would say the Meziere pump is bang for your buck.

Any benefits to a higher flow pump, with a completely stock cooling circuit? Talking about my V12TT here.

Here are 3 pumps Pierburg makes.

The pump in the middle(CWA100) I believe has been replaced with the pump at the bottom (CWA100.2).

Pierburg CWA50 (A.K.A BMW pump)

Intercooler Pump you didn't know about-cwa50_1of21-1.jpg

Pierburg CWA100 (you have seen this pump in some pictures, i'm sure) This pump has been replaced with the next pump on the list

If you decide you don't want it, I've got second dibs.

Intercooler Pump you didn't know about-qe4q2.jpg

You underestimated a bit...my temps stayed at 109 for like 10 minutes before dropping to 106.

Still pulls harder than a hooker with a time constraint though. I'm convinced Jerry tossed a Houston tune on my car way back when because performance hasn't suffered at all even with this heat.

Probably just got overlooked, but any idea on this? Any benefit to upgrading pump on stock cooling system?

Why a n/a engine use an intercooler pump?
Sorry i just read on the graph that is for transmission cooling, so i think all 63 N/A use this pump.

I have some friends at the parts dpt in my local dealer. A cross ref of the number only showed the SLS and the Sprinter to be using this pump. Still not sure what Sprinter though. I'd imagine it would have to be newer then 2009. Since the pump came into production in 2009.
