The MB Parts Express site calls it the ground effect but it shows the immage for a CKL55 or CLK430, not the CLK320:
[ 4 ] BODY HARDWARE / PILLARS, ROCKER & FLOOR / EXTERIOR TRIM / Ground effects ground effects COUPE, 3.2 LITER, 2000-02 Left
Core ?Online Price$0.00N/A

the diagram above is for tears 2000 and up and for the pre 2000 430 model only that came with the AMG package. yours is a 1998 320 so yours did not come with rocker panles at all. the post 2000 320s came with rocker panels but not AMG ones just regular rocker panels. the parts that you are looking for are the rubber inserts that are specific to 98 and 99 320 models only. they are fairly cheap from the dealers just ask for the rubber molding seal on the rockers. unless if the previouse owner added side skirts then they come the from the factory the way i explained above. the only thing that throws me off is that your door impact strips and the rockers are the same color as the car which could be that your car came with the sport package, which you would have a black with chrome sport emblem on the front fender moldings next to the doors. if that is not the case then your car is either a 2000+ or the owner before you had everything match painted.

ok i just took another look at the picture of your car and figured it out. You have the model of your car wrong in your info. your car is not a 1998, it is a 2000+ car because you have the turn signals on your mirros and not the fenders and also you have the small chin cover on your front bumper so the diagram above is correct but you need the none AMG rocker panel.

No, VIPclk is correct, but the diageam at that site only shows for it on a CLK55 a CKL430 AMG. But it gives a part number for what you have, just doesn't show a separate diagram for it. If you go to the site and select your car it will give the correct number.
But you can also find it at a salvage parts place. Why are you asking, do you need one or just the covers.

I see that site is hard to navigate.
On the page of that link:
Click on OEM Mercredess Parts and fill in your year and model
Click on Body Hardware
Click on Pillars rockers and floor
Although the diagram shows the other panel the part numbers are different for what model you put.

2036981354 - Avantgarde
2036980154 - Other non-AMG
It seems there are two part numbers for your car, depending on your trim level. Your car doesn't have the badge stating the trim level on the plastic door trim so you'll have to find this out yourself.
In case you don't know, Avantgarde (in general) is the sportier trim. If your car is in any way similar to other benzes, you can tell them apart easily most of the time. Where Elegance has wood, Avantgarde has aluminum. Elegance has green window tint, Avantgarde has blue.
Oh, just in case... The Classic trim is the basic one - cloth/vinyl seats and barely any options included. But you don't get that in the USA at all I think. It's for the small-engined european cars.

Can someone help me identify this part?
Thanks so much Shadenfroh for your help, at least we have narrowed down to only two parts numbers. That's big help, now I just have to find out which one is mine. If I call the dealer and give them the #VIN numbers they should be able to tell me which one right? Thanks again,

Yes, the dealer will tell you. The forum will also likely tell you if you're comfortable posting your VIN here :-)
Or you can run it through this decoder: http://carinfo.kiev.ua/cars/vin/mercedes/
And under "SA Codes" look for "EQUIPMENT PACKAGE ELEGANCE" or something similar.

Why are people uncomfortable posting their VIN? What's the alleged "danger"? The same for people who complain that sometimes they can make out a license plate in a photo. I can look at the VIN of any car that's parked. License plates are in plain view almost all the time. You can't get anyone's address from a VIN. Ditto for the license plate - I don't know about every other state, but that's how DMV works in NY and California. In fact, if someone has my license plate number and asks DMV for the address of the owner of that plate, DMV contacts me, gives me the name of the person asking, and asks if it's OK to release the info. So what's the deal?
