GAD vs Weistec vs AMS vs PP performance vs Renntech turbo upgrade?

Hello,

I am a long time absent from the forum
And now I've come back and I want to show the good number with my E63s project.

my car is still stoke and i saw a couple of good companies making the turbo upgrade for the M157 Engine.

But i would like to know what is the best company for the reliable and power
my target is 800 AWHP

i'm thinking to do this for now

- Weistec Downpipes
- Weistec Cooling kit
- BMC Air Filters
- Custom Ported throttle body
- Aquamest meth injection
- PP performance Ecu Remap
- Turbo Upgrade !!!!!!

If there a better setup please let me know

Thank you

I don't believe with brabus power kits, my uncle use to own Brabus SL65 BS '' Vanish ''
with the bra bus 6.3L V12 tt engine and i still prefer the Normal SL65 BS with down pipes, filters and edu remap !

I would go with the Renntech turbo setup. All you really need is the full Renntech intercooler kit, ecu and turbos. You'll make over 800HP that's daily drivable and crazy fast. Plus they've been tuning Benz's since 1989.

IMO, Weistec is the good choice because it fit like the OEM turbo no need for re-routing the oil lines like others and have leaks. From their website "No custom oil and water lines to leak, no headaches."

Good luck with torque limiter if your car is 4-matic

So far, none of the turbo upgraded 4-matics have blown me away (no pun intended). I was hoping to see low, or sub 10 sec 1/4 miles with these cars pushing over 800hp. The best results I've seen is from a RENNtech Turbo upgraded E63 in europe that went 10.8 on street conditions. AMS's car went 10.8 without a turbo upgrade, given it was on a prepped track.

Looking to do some similar upgrades to my car and being in CA with crappy 91 oct, was leaning toward Weistec.

Ferris, I was curious what the issue was with the torque limiter? Is there a software control for this, or is it purely mechanical? I'm looking to do the trans upgrade at the same time.

I blew up two engines in search of better deals with different tuners and parts suppliers. I suggest you get everything from one tuner with warranty. If something goes wrong they are responsible for that. If you get parts from different tuners each tuner will blame the other party for failure.
Nowadays, every tuner offers more or less the same gains.

So for us who have not tuned yet, care to share who to go with and who not to go with?

2016 AMG S65, AMG GL63, 2012 AMG E63 With AMS Alpha 9 Package, Renntech 200 Catted Downpipes.
I went from a Renntech ECU tune to a full AMS Alpha 9 upgrade. Reason:

1: AMS claimed a higher HP/TQ gain with just a ECU tune over Renntech ( didn't want to consider other tuners ).

2: AMS has a way longer track record playing with turbo upgrades from all turbo cars including the GTRs. Renntech was always the ECU tuner and just got into turbo upgrades which was a concern of my.

3: I drove my friend's Alpha 12 GTR and that got me sold on going with a full E63 Alpha package.

http://alphaperformance.com/packages/r35-gtr-alpha-12-performance-package/

I think if people are just looking for a ECU tune and downpipes, the top 3 tuners offer comparedable tunes. If turbo upgrade is considered, my money went to AMS and am very happy with it. Very reliable upgrade without so much a code, misfire or lag.

This is exactly why I think upgrading turbos is a useless idea now and by us supporting the tuning companies by purchasing them, they aren't taking the time and research into the real problem... the torque limitation.

E63
So outside of the Renntech Shop car and Vasily's one off setup, there are no turbo upgraded dynos or even cars around we can see?

I am not interested in a turbo upgrade (gaspam), but what Speedriven commented in another thread is right, not worth turboback downpipe upgrade (labor) if you are keeping stock turbos (labor issues). If I were to move to a AWD E63 and wanted downpipes, a turbo upgrade might just be worth the extra. However nothing out there seems to be making any power except full custom motor builds and a RennTech shop car

ams made 787 whp on turbo upgrade (they did 165 mph in standing 1/2 mile while still in testing--- fyi, that is about the same that the fastest F10 M5 (ram_allmotor that runs 9.9@140) ran... his 60-130 vbox is slightly faster 6.2 vs 6.5 for ams e63, but to be fair that M5 has a lot of work and makes 825 whp ....

just because people dont track there cars, doesnt mean it doesnt make power... i know plenty of guys with 1000+whp cars (not mb) that have never tracked them, but still stomp everything they come across on the street (where i care most if my car is fast)

one forum member here has ams turbo'd car but doesnt track it.... seems thats the nature of the current crop of most M157 guys, they just dont really care that much about more power (with the exception of you, me, and a few others)....

once these cars are around $25K you will see more of the e55/w204 c63 crowd migrate over and start swapping turbos and doing bigger builds

I tend to do most of my racing at the track being that with these beasts of engines, hitting death speeds is rather quick. That's why I ask about track times so much

i would not buy a luxury car for a track car... i would buy something that i could turn into a 7 sec car

i bought my car for cruising the street in style, class and luxury comfort and made it faster so that 99% of the people that try to block me from passing, cut me off, or mess with me, cant its a daily chore in miami, its like being in the road warrior movies lol
