New Style Diffuser-Installed

Finally! The diffuser I've always felt should have been created from the beginning has finally surfaced and I believe I'm the first one, at least on this forum, to purchase & install it.

For the most part, it's identical to the ones we've all seen - the one where the diffuser hooks around the outside of the exhaust tips onto the bumper and then slightly hangs off the body lines - not a fan of that. I always thought it should have stopped where the factory splitter ended - right above the exhaust tips. And well, one of these manufactures finally realized that also and created a new model. As for the rest of the diffuser, I'm pretty sure its still the same? Never seen one in person but images tell me that it is.

Now for fitment/installation. Their instructions were that two-way tape and glue was all that was needed - that was a lie. Did not use glue, but the tape was more than enough for the center part of the diffuser where the 3 fins are located. But as for the end pieces that go over where the exhaust tips are, I ended up having to drill one screw from underneath the diffuser into the bottom of the bumper (Picture below). It was a bit tricky as this part of the actual bumper is maybe 1/2" thick, but I ended up getting it right on each side the first try. It's important to have someone hold that piece in place though as you drill.

As for the final look, I'm more than satisfied with it. Is it 100% flush? No, probably more like 96%, which is good enough for me.

Ok. Enough with the talking, onto the pics...

Looks pretty good. Is it touching the exhaust on the ends?

Where did you find it? How much?

Thanks,
Mike.

Thanks. It's extremely close but enough of a gap to slide a piece of paper in between it. It doesn't bump, rattle or anything of that sort while driving.

eBay - $300

Looks good, I decided on a complete rear bumper replacement.

That's always an option too. Nicely done.

It does look weird how the modified outer pieces slope downward creating an uneven gap above each exhaust tip and almost touches the outer one. Hopefully version 3 will come soon. Also, why can't they make one that isn't as flat looking. One where the bottom surface slopes under the bumper more and the fins extrude down more? Is there low clearance under the stock one? I just think it needs more dimensions. Looks like a beauty panel vs an aggressive diffuser.

Personally, I could not justify paying $2,500 for a diffuser for a car that I'll be selling after this summer.

As for the end piece of the diffuser...it may slope down a bit, but the outside exhaust tip being slightly higher than the inside one likely exaggerates that illusion - hints to what you see. I may add another screw to try to raise it a bit more, but as of now I'm content with it.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I think it looks good. It could just look even better. I think yours looks better then the renntech. I hate that big gap of flat carbon above the splitter fins.
