Acoustic Glass, Driver/Passenger Doors

While cleaning the windows on my GLC I discovered the passenger's window is labeled "Acoustic", but the driver's window is not.

Is there is an explanation for this situation?

I'm wondering if my car has acoustic glass. Can you tell me where I can see the label?

Thanks

Yes, of course.

On the driver side standing outside looking at the glass the info is in the lower right corner.

On the passenger side standing outside looking at the glass the info is in the lower left corner.

Would you be so kind as to let me know what you find? Thanks.

I just picked up my car and neither window is acoustic glass. I am headed back to the Dealer on Monday. When I was looking at the one they had on the lot it had acoustic glass which was a big deal for me. Not a good start for my first Mercedes.

I queried my salesperson concerning the issue. Not surprised he had not a clue. Of course he said he would find out and let me know.

As soon as he passes me the info I'll post here for everyone to know.

Yikes.... now I have something else to worry about. My GLC is supposed to arrive in the port of Baltimore tomorrow. I expect to have it within a week or so, the first things I'll look at are the side windows.

Do you suppose acoustic glass is bundled with another option... like Burmester sound? Or panorama sunroof?

It seems rather un-Mercedes-like for it to be a random occurrence.

Seems random.

Neither of my windows say "acoustic glass". I've only been to 60 mph so I guess I need to get out on the highway at higher speeds and give a listen.

Larry, could you post a picture of each of your window labels. Would be very helpful. Thanks!

I have the Burmester and HUD and no acoustical glass. NO Pano though.
The model I saw at the dealership with it was a stripped model. Sounds Random.
Should be consistent.

In Canada it's stand alone option, only $225, I guess in US it should be standard

Its it just not marked? Roll down and look at the edge of the glass, is it the same on the left and right?

Was it an option that you picked? I don't think I saw it as an option on mb build site. I don't see that marking on my glc. That's a really bummer!

I did not order it. Came on my car. My car was a special order. It was built end of January. It has every thing on it except sport package and air suspension.. What was build date of your vehicle? Look on the driver side door post.

I think they are both acoustic glass. The glass in your car is a different manufacturer than the glass in my car. I think MB is using multiple suppliers.

Thanks for posting the pics Doc. Wonder how to tell if it's acoustic glass from alphanumeric markings if it doesn't actually say acoustic glass.

Mine was built a little after yours, probably mid February. I just got the car on March 16. Yeah, both/all glasses on my car have the same marking. I have air suspension, pano roof, burmester but not sport package

Not sure if this sheds light on the acoustic question but here is a glass marking reference site.

I went and did a visual inspection and yep, my car has acoustic glass on both sides. I assumed it's also on the windshield.

You can inspect by rolling your windows down and look at them. You'll see a dark line in the middle of the glass pane. That's how acoustic glass is made. The front glass is also thicker than the back. You'll also notice there's no dark line in the back windows.

Now I'm happy. :-)

Thats why I posted earlier but the original poster didn't answer my question, the markings could be different but they can BOTH be acoustic glass,

Easiest way to check is to roll down the windows and look at the edge, acoustic glass isn't just smooth and round, it has a unique profile, and compare both sides.

I have the exact same markings as lincolntran and I don't have acoustic glass.

Lincolntran (or anyone with acoustic glass), any chance you could take a picture of the top edge of your window?

Thanks.
