2007 W211 E350 P0715 code?
Code shows as Input Speed Sensor.
Transmission went into limp mode and check engine came on.
Assuming it is the speed sensor, it looks like I need a new conductor plate.
Is that a good guess, or are there other common issue that trip the same code?

If you trust your reader, well then you are correct. The conductor plate needs to be changed.
Never the less you are going to get all sorts of HS opinions to check fluid intervention, ask you girlfriend what she thinks and or visit multiple sites with outdated information to coroborate your suspecion!!
However because of the time and expense associated with the repair, I would get a second opinion from somone with excellent diagnostics not a BS stickey who can read the TCU directly!!

Have an appointment with my local indy shop.
He said there are a few checks, but given the year and a few he has had in recently for the same issue, he does not doubt the diagnosis.
Heck, that extra $800 in my checking account would have just been wasted on fine wine and dining.
P.S. Fluid was done about a year ago, all was good then, and he put the adapter on the connector so it should not be a fluid soaked wiring harness.

N-Jay, please follow up and let us know how it went. Do you have the 722.6 (5-speed) or 722.9 (7-speed) tranny?
I have an '03 c230 throwing the same P0715 and am tempted to pull the trigger on a new conductor plate and have it changed out.

Sorry for the late answer.
Yep, new conductor plate (which has the speed sensor in it) and all seems well (Except my wallet)

Thanks for the reply N_Jay. I ordered the parts to do this myself, but since then the tranny went into limp mode (stuck in 2nd gear) so I think I'm going to take it to a shop. I'm worried about needing to clear the tranny computer to get it out of limp mode and my hand scanner can't do that. Kind of a bummer this happened now because I just replaced the leaky connector adapter, filter, and fluid around Christmas. Since it's being taken apart, going to replace it all again.

Hmmm, thanks for that info N_Jay. Did you notice any other safeguards kicking in?
I got the parts but chickened out on doing this one myself. I was afraid I would still have to clear some transmission codes after I replaced the conductor plate with it being locked in 2nd gear. It also would start to limit the engine rpm's to 3000rpm after I drove for a few miles (it was 8 miles to the transmission place). I talked to a transmission shop with excellent reputation who turned out to be familiar with the 722.6, leaky connector adapters and replacing conductor plates. He told me if I wanted to replace it myself I should do it and that the codes and all the weird driving behavior would clear itself with the new conductor plate. I wound up just having him do it - this past Wednesday I dropped the car off at lunchtime and he called me before quitting time that it was done. I had just changed the oil/filter/connector adapter at Christmas, but nevertheless bought the kit with the conductor plate and new fluid/filter/connector adapter/pan gasket/etc. so all that was replaced. Drives great. Looks like all they did was have the battery disconnected while they did the job and no codes.
