UGGH - I hate Keyless - How to Disable?
It's been years since I've posted here but this keyless system on my new C300 is making me crazy. I hate it. I removed the button from the dash, so its the smart key for me to start the car, but still the doors unlock on their own as I approach the vehicle. I do not want this. I just want to get rid of keyless go and keyless entry. Is there any way to disable it, or at least turn off the keyless entry?

What did the dealership tell you when you told them about the issues you've been having?
I'm currently on my 2nd W205, and I've never had the issue of the doors unlocking on their own just walking up to the car. The doors should only unlock if you touch the inside of the door handles or push the unlock button on the key FOB.
I've also heard there's a TSB reflash available from Mercedes to fix Keyless Entry issues.

Thank you both.
Mass - I haven't discussed it with the dealer yet, but I will. I've had it all of three days .
Ican - There is no COMAND or menu option to disable.
I've searched the user manual back and forth. It appears that (1) there is no way to turn off the keyless unlocking, and (2) the car should only unlock if I touch the door handle, but not because the key is in proximity. I think it needs a flash.

I think being able to have the car unlock as you walk up to it could be a useful feature. I also can't imagine going back to having to use a key. Keyless-Go is a very useful and convenient feature.

I spose you could remove the battery from your smart key and pop off the keyhole cover on the handle and use the key inside of the smart key. This all sounds like a hassle. But to each their own.

The door handle sensors are so sensitive that I do not need to touch them to unlock the vehicle. As long as I have the smart key with me, the doors unlock from a few inches away as I approach the car.
I'm concerned that I may unintentionally unlock the car when I intended for it to be locked. Say I park it, lock it, then for whatever reason I walk around the car or take a step back towards the car. It could unknowingly unlock.
Seems the keyless entry sensitivity needs an adjustment, if that's even possible.

Double-tap the lock button when you lock the car (Keyfob will blink twice). That disables the keyles go until you press the unlock button again.

Mine does not lock or unlock until I place my hand on the door handle outer or inner. This I believe is the norm and should yours open without touching it then I'd suggest speaking with MB.

Tesla Model S does. The key is shaped like a little Matchbox car, and there's nowhere to put it in the dash. The car starts when you buckle the seatbelt!

Also you can change the Central locking to make 2-step unlocking... so only driver door is open, but the rest of doors will remain locked...

Mine has always worked as designed and I love it. The only issue is when I wash the car. If I am wiping it down with the fob in my pocket, it will lock the door all the time as I brush up against the door handle. So I have learned to remove it from my pocket to prevent this.

Apparently you are correct. I just checked out the Tesla owners manual. Not only does it unlock as you approach, you can also set it to automatically lock as you walk away. Very cool.

Both my 2005 and 2009 Corvettes had auto lock and unlock. If I left a passenger in the car when I got out for fuel or a pit stop, it would lock that person in the car. The only way to get out was by pulling an emergency lever under the seat, which was not obvious if you didn't know the car. I hated that feature and disabled it on both cars.

Plus... you still have to take the door handle to open the door. That's when Benz unlocks - when you physically touch the inner side of a door handle to open the door... which you have to do anyway. Mercedes system is smarter and safer...

Personally, I wouldn't want my car to unlock... every time I'm walking by...

Touching the door handle is how it locks/unlocks; touching he door handles repeatedly while washing the car with the key in your pocket will make it lock/unlock repeatedly. Just take the key out of your pocket when washing the car!

Or alternatively disable it by pressing the lock button twice in quick succession.

I have the same "problem" while washing the car. I solved it by putting the key in a small Faraday pouch in my pocket.

I just leave the key in the car and wash it and don't have the problem. It will not lock as long as the key is in the car. Also, I have to touch the handle to open unlock the doors however I have noticed that as I approach, my kids can grab the door and open it before I even open it. So I'm guessing it does open automatically for the other doors as soon as I get close to the car and maybe my driver side is already open but never really notice it. I have been thinking of turning off these feature so that my drive door is the only door that works. My wife's car has this feature when we first purchase the car but we turned it off because it just cause other family members to pull on the handle and the doors were locked.
