CEL and misfire (Xpost BW)

Flashing then solid CEL and noticeable misfire.
Viewed 3 codes cyl1 misfire and two other cyl getting close.
Cleared with OB2 dongle, misfire went away.
This morning hooked up STAR/DAS and cleared all faults, drove around the block and all is well. No misfire and no STAR/DAS faults.

Sixty miles later and just one stumble at idle and no codes.
Any ideas? CPS?

Misfire means spark issues, fuel issues, or air issues. MAF could be it. Fuel delivery(bad pump, clogged filter, dirty injectors.) Plugs or coils for spark. For air, you have the MAF you suspect or any number of vacuum lines. Does the misfire occur under any particular circumstances(cold, hot, hard acceleration, cruising, idle, specific rpm or gear?) I'm not sure how much help I can be, but maybe I can trigger that 'aha' moment.

The first time it happened was on the freeway, flashing CEL then steady. I could feel the slight misfire. Came to a stop at my exit and it was misfiring badly. Got home, read codes with my Torque OBD2 reader then cleared. Restarted and all was fine.
That was eight days ago. Yesterday morning at start, codes reappeared. Cleared.
Car has run fine since except for one time last week at a stop sign I noticed a slight misfire.

Check one of the offending spark plugs, see if there is anything visibly off about the plug or coil, including signs of any fluid getting to them. Check all your vacuum lines for failure. Think about if there is any part of the fuel, air, or ignition system that may be due for maintenance. There's a lot of possibilities that can't be narrowed down by the codes and symptoms you have found already. Now you need to look around and see what you can see. Sometimes the throttle body and MAF can get carbon buildup, and can be cleaned. There is a cleaner specifically for it, do a search on google for instructions, I know I've seen someone had a write up for it.

The fact that it came and went and on 1,2,3 makes a mystery.

*knock on wood* I haven't had a misfire problem since I had my crankshaft position sensor replaced when I had major ABC work done.

I'm not sure if the problem plagues the 55s as well, but my '04 600 had the same problem here and there that it would misfire on startup. Never looked into it because it would generally go away on a restart and would usually only present itself after I had driven it hard and didn't give it a chance to relax before shutting it off.

I had that happen a few times on my '03 600. Exact same problem. On startup, there were anywhere from 3 - 9 misfires on random cylinders. After having the crankshaft position sensor replaced, haven't had it happen since. '

But like Jack said...it could be anything. I just hit 100k on mine and am terrified of the day my coil packs go out.

CEL on my 05 S600 came on about a month ago with random misfired codes after I tried a DIY on the air intake screen mesh.
I took off the DIY mesh after I tried it for less than 10miles. Strangely, the misfired codes appear shortly after.
Misfired code was mostly on #7 and it tends to happen early in the morning. Some days CEL didn't came on but the engine seems to be choking with loss of power.
The problem turned out to be these two clamps in the marked area. I can spin them freely and I believe they were in that condition before I bought the car.
I haven't seen CEL or misfired codes after the clamps down and the engine seems to be smoother.
Think back of all the works done and check all connections after any shop works. I guess this is a happy ending on my CEL story.

It turns out I don't have a MAF on my S55! Anyway, had the CPS, fuel filter and I/C pump changed out today.
That is why I couldn't find the MAF on EPC and found it on Amazon.

Might also be a bad CAT. I read somewhere someone had a problem like this on one bank. We will see. I am glad that we in Cali can get aftermarket replacements cheap!

It's back! Now getting cyl 3 on one CEL before reset and then cyl 4 on the next.
I'm thinking ignition but don't know what is common between that bank. As long as it is consistent it should be much easier to troubleshoot.

Congrats. $1200 isn't bad for all 8 injectors. How long did it take you for this job? Any pictures of the bad injector?

It took five days in the shop. I think four or five hours labor. No pictures. Tossed!

I didn't looked up the part cost so I didn't think $1200 was bad. With labor that's a super deal, I think.
