320cdi L6 gearbox removal

Has anyone removed the box on one of these? I'm pretty good with the old spanners so that's ok, Iv not even had this car in the air to investigate yet so was just having a nose to see if anyone has done it and maybe has any diy tips to help any issues I may come across.

Thanks.

Well it's not like the old 40's Skodas, but if you would like a leg up---insert your VIN in Startek.com and look and print all the factory removal docs, however if you have all winter, screw the documents, just start spanning away!!

PS: Keep good notes,we need a good 6hr DIY on the removal process!!

Funny, I doubt Plutoe has seen Skoda in his life.
You have 5-sp automatic?
Those transmissions are extremely well covered in pictorials and proven bulletproof, lasting easy 400,000 miles.
Often they are replaced because the shop doesn't know how to troubleshoot $10 pilot bushing, or electric plate.
What are your symptoms?

Removing the box will be easy, big manual Transverse FWD cars are the worst to change box's on.

The link didn't reveal anywhere to put my vin?

Iv got star c3 turning up so should now have all the documentation needed, 6 hours is a walk in the park

This box has 190,000 uk miles under its belt, yes it's 5sp auto 722.6 box, Iv seen the tear down threads and didn't realise how simple the gearsets are, the valve body is a work of art but also fairly simple in its function.

My symptoms are a rumble at low rpm 1-2k rpm when accelerating, like going over bad Tarmac at speed, you feel it through the whole car, that is also combined with a humming type noise, my own conclusion is either TC lock up is bad or gearbox clutch pack is bad, trouble is on WOT higher up the Rev range, it seems to lock up fine and is quiet, as Iv mentioned above, I've got star turning up and I'm going to doable the lock up and see if the problem disappears and go from there, I bought a box, TC, diff, prop for £150 off a 135k mile car for £150 so can just throw the other bits on, Iv even toyed with the idea of rebuilding the spare box for reassurance as its not that costly when it's parts only.

Thanks

Here in California we have forum member who rebuilds those transmissions and is good in sharing the info.
He post mostly on benzworld under handle MAVA.
Seek his topics in several sections as those transmissions were mounted in several MB models.
I think I have seen rebuild pictorial in W140 section.
Last year I sold 2 cars with those transmissions and each having 266k miles work flawless. Regardless the fact that those early 722.6 had weak bushing.

Well I removed the box with no big issues, it was really easy to be honest, much better than a manual box atleast, I fitted a second hand box in the end but I'm not sure one the behaviour of the torque converter, but I'll start a new thread for that.
