C250 - Wheel Alignment / Airmatic Suspension

Hi All

Anyone know whether it makes any difference to wheel alignment if you have Airmatic suspension?

Kwikfit have told my front wheel needs adjusting, advised that Airmatic makes no difference incidentally i spoke to my local mercedez dealer who said it makes no difference to alignment..
Any advice???

No difference. AirMatic just replaces steel springs with adjustable air springs. No effect on alignment.

So the different ride heights wouldn't make any difference when doing the alignment?

Alignment will change with different ride heights, you should perform an alignment with the vehicle in the mode you will be using most often.

I use my car in the "sport" suspension setting 95% of the time, this is why I aligned with this setting.

Call to check they have the 5 finger tools to align MB wheels.. Oh and take pics of the centre of your wheels where the tools insert just in case they happen to bugger up the wheels doing it..

MB dealership did my alignment after front scrubbing (4 months into ownership) and in doing so they chipped every wheel .. 9 i had asked it be done at the time of purchase and they didn't)..

Result, $1000aud bill to the dealer to have every wheel refinished (19" piano black multi spoke with CNC spoke faces.. )

Dealer was not happy but thankful I called them right away to tell them their equipment was damaging wheels and needed repairing..

they have the new hunter machine, seemed quite high tech. Was advised the toe is out on my front drivers side, so only that would need adjusting. Thanks for the advice though.

Most modern 3D reflective aligners have the sensors mounted on the tires, and does not touch the rim.
Older electronic IR sensors are almost always positioned on the rim in various ways.

I've been teetering on this option. OEM Sport suspension vs. AIRMATIC. What can sit lower from the factory w/o modding?
