2005 SL500
Connecting new iphone to car bluetooth.

Hi,
I have an 2005 SL500 Australian compliance.
My old iphone 4 was connected to the bluetooth telephone in car by a gentleman at Mercedes for me. He seemed to type in a code on the Command unit and it connected. He said the code is the same for all Mercs. The old phone worked flawlessly with the car.

When i search on the command unit it finds my bluetooth name but my new iphone doesn't find 'MBphone' like my old one did. In fact it finds no bluetooth on the vehicle. On the command unit when it finds my bluetooth name it asks for a code, i tried the unsual 0000 or 1234, then my iphone asks for a code I put the same one in but no connection.

I don't know why my iphone can't find the MBphone device.

If anyone has any ideas great. I know it complicated trying to explain.
But thanks anyway.

Gerard

Your iPhone code may be the code you use to lock your phone. Give that code you use to unlock your phone a try.

What kind of Bluetooth module do you have in the armrest? Small, 4 inches, black or large,7 inches black and silver? If it is the large black and silver, most likely, you need to slide back the small cover panel on the module and look for the code inside. Once you have located the code you need to put your phone in discover mode and push the small blue button on the Bluetooth module until it starts flashing, it will then show up on your phone screen follow the instructions and you will be prompted to put in the code and hit pair. You should be all set. If you have a small black module PM me and I will find the code for you.

Thanks for the advice. I have the smaller all black Bluetooth module in the centre console.
If you have that code would be great. Thanks again.

This thread made me curious: how do I get Bluetooth connectivity on my '07 R230? It has the little gizmo in the center console ... I don't know what it does or how to connect anything to it. It's not like the larger puck in the console of my wife's '07 W211. I'm not interested in telephone connectivity ... I don't use the phone while driving. But if I could get my iPhone music, or Pandora, to play through the car's audio system ... that would be peachy keen.

My 2005 SL500 has the small black 4" Bluetooth module its for telephone only you can't play music through it.
There is a little Bluetooth device that plugs into the lighting socket in the bottom of the iPhone that will play you music on the phone through 88.7FM.
I can't think of the name of it but electronic shop or google.

2004 SL 500 wants Bluetooth.

I just discovered that my 2004 SL 500 was not prewired for Sirius radio so I wanted to check on Bluetooth and have discovered that it does not have anything in the center console glove box and that seems to indicate that it does not have Bluetooth. How do I add this and if anyone knows how to get fiber wiring for Sirius factory install that would be great also. I have the Sirius box and hidden antennae from a 2005 SL55. Thanks

NO LONGER ACTIVE
MY2004 uses D2B fiber - the factory Sirius module require MOST, so you won't be able to add that. For Bluetooth, you have to install a BUNCH of stuff that is basically to interface and boost the signal of an old analog cell phone, then you get a puck that emulates an old Motorola phone to the car, but talks Bluetooth to your modern phone. Parts are in excess of $1000. My advice would be to investigate an aftermarket head unit. It can be a challenge to install, but it can be done and will give you the modern conveniences you desire.
