New to the M157 - couple concerns
Just picked up a '12 cls63 with 35k miles. 1 owner very clean car. I bought it from a dealer, not mercedes dealer specifcally and had my mechanic look over the car as well.
I came from an fbo E55 and very happy to finally upgrade to the infamous TT. Tune/downpipes etc are coming soon. Now to my concerns:
- Engine ticking at idle. Sounds like lifters or injectors? It's on the loud side, definitely noticeable in the garage, standing outside of the car, etc.
- Jerky start in traffic from dead stop in C or S. Not pleasant.
- Ventilated seats! WTH? Fan makes noise but I don't feel a thing. Wife's Infiniti M35 feels 100x better.
No questions about what tune to go with guys, no worries

--- could just be you hearing the ticking of direct injection motor but some ticking is bad... What'd your mechanic think?
- Jerky start in traffic from dead stop in C or S. Not pleasant.
-- you have an earlier version of the MCT which was not as smooth as subsequent iterations... Can have Benz take a look and see if they can re adapt the wet clutch and reset adaptations of tcu
- Ventilated seats! WTH? Fan makes noise but I don't feel a thing. Wife's Infiniti M35 feels 100x better.
--- yup... Benz ventilated seats pales compared to other brands cooled seats

I know when I lean forward a bit I feel better air flow because I'm not totally occluding all the holes

**Edit: Peter, I just realized that the guy you mentioned didn't change out the seat foam but simply added a seat pad to give the ventilation some separation from his body. I still stand by my original outburst, however.

Could always replace the fan with a vacuum cleaner fan Ya, the vented seats don't vent too well, but does not really bother me. I'm pretty darn happy with my car overall. Ya, noisy engine sounds like valve lifter noise when in reality I think it's the fuel injectors, there again you get use to it. For some reason after my 40K mile trans oil and filter service $500.00 at the dealer the trans really got a lot smoother and less jerky plus shifts better, dunno if they did a software update or something but feels like a different trans now and I'm happy with it. Before too jerky.

I find this hilarious because it's a Benz for chrissakes! We shouldn't have to dismantle our seats and replace the seat foam with beehives to feel the freaking ventilation!

They are basically diesel injectors. High pressure fuel systems are inherently loud. You would know if you had a "bad problem" I've replaced several high pressure pumps, which are also inherently loud (on the back, right hand side of the engine).
As for the jerky starts, there is a bulletin from MB where we take the car out and "adapt" the wet clutch of the transmission. They might recommend a trans service, but the adaptation fixes the jerky take off 95% of the time, the other 5% being replacing the wet clutch.
The seat fans will/have always been weak. They're usually pretty quiet unless they're contacting some padding or material inside, then make an obnoxious noise. It's really just an underdeveloped or overlooked feature offered, that typically leads to complaints. Basically two tiny "computer sized" fans that move a little air. Other manufacturers do it better, and it's no secret.
