"Our proprietary ECU upgrade for the Mercedes M278 Biturbo engine offers huge gains in performance across the entire RPM range without sacrificing around town comfort or daily driver reliability."

I can just see somebody with this "upgrade," wondering WHY the dealer and MBUSA are denying their warranty claim. They say that you won't be "sacrificing around town comfort," but WHAT ABOUT THE FACTORY WARRANTY???
My 2015 S550 is SOOOOOOO FRIGGING FAST, I just can't imagine wanting more power in a luxo sedan. And this is from someone who used to race 427 Corvettes at Lyons Drag Strip in the 1970's!
Forget the "upgrade." If you want more power, get an S63. It's a ridiculous car, but then, some folks need ridiculous cars.

I agree, my '15 S550 is surprisingly fast, more than I can use safely on the street

I personally would never put a MB warranty in jeopardy, these cars are crazy expensive to repair, in fact I would never own a MB without warranty. They also depreciate like a rock after the warranty runs out because they are so expensive to fix

I realize there are many people that are willing to gamble with aftermarket upgrades, some of which are very tempting, but in the end they are too risky for my comfort zone

Thanks for the feedback.... The owner of the company actually still works for MB, he specialized on the AMG's. Supposedly they have a great relationship with MB till this day...

I agree with the warrantee, I received with car CPO still under B2B, and went ahead and purchased the additional 2 years for around $4.100- So I have a 7 year Unlimited Millage warrantee...

When I owned my CLS63 I researched this in some depth. Yes, there are dealers that say they will stand behind it. The problem is it's not the dealers decision, it's the manufacturer, MB. They dictate to the dealer what is and is not covered. I personally am not willing to potentially have a mechanical problem that MB is due to my aftermarket upgrade. That's just me.

I would never chance chipping or flashing my 2015 W222 under warrantee. If I want more speed I jump in my Mustang GT

Flashing your car will without a doubt kill your warranty, and with all the fancy gizmos in your S class, I don't think it's a very good idea.

Just keeping anyone who is interested updated. I was contacted by RENNtech, who provided me with a local dealer that does the upgraded in house. Turns out the person they referred me to is my Service Rep. at my local Mercedes Dealer. They actually do the Upgrade (Removal / Update / Re-install ) within 2 to 3 days. Warrantee intact...
Rockville Center Mercedes Benz NY in case anyone in interested.

They have a New update being released that will give you the same power as a stock 63. There are no other mods needed.

Just passing on information... I will be meeting with my Service Rep. when they receive the latest Map Updates and will inquire further.

The fact that the upgrade / install will be completed by a Mercedes Dealer instills confidence in the product.

If/when the warranty is denied, it comes from corporate not your dealer

So your dealer can only work with you so much - if you blow an engine, your dealer will not risk their relationship with corporate by lying to them - they will declare the mods, corporate will void, and your dealer will say we tried as hard as we could

Get the warrantee in writing from your dealership and they are liable if Mercedes denies the claim. CYA.

This is absolutely true. MB Corporate makes the decision, not the dealer. To make matters worse, should any warranty work be needed that can possibly be connected to the mod, they will quickly deny warranty and ask you to pay in full. Yes, you can then fight their decision but legal fees are not cheap either.

That's why he should get the dealer to say they are going to warrantee the mod, if something blows up they, too Mercedes, will be on the hook for the repair. Get it in writing and be specific stating that any damages that MB determine are the result of the mod will be covered in full by the installing dealer. If they are that confident that hey will say it's covered let them put it in writing.

The major names we all know will tell you over the phone that your warranty is intact but the tone changes when you ask for that in writing. Same change when you ask the installing dealership for the same written confirmation.

I have a friend who paid his installer/dealer extra $$$ to warranty all work, but he also spent almost 25K in upgrades.
