Need Help / Your expert advise regarding 1992 400E
Found a cheap 1992 400E with 96K original miles and clean title. Car is white with grey interior and overall looks in descent shape, will need some TLC though.
Owner states that the car starts a bit rough in the morning and the check engine light is on, otherwise everything is supposedly functional and he claims the car runs great.
I am a W211owner and do not have a lot of experience with the W124, however my brother in Germany swears that these are the best, especially if built prior to mid 1993.
What are your thoughts/opinions about this vehicle? Owner is asking US $2K or best offer.
I am thinking this car would clean up nicely, but would like your opinions in regards to price and if you think it would be worth putting some money into it to bring it back to its original glory? I am thinking yes, with the low miles.
Can anyone run a carfax? The VIN # is WDBEA34E3NB740291
Thanks very much in advance, greatly appreciate your input.

Out Of Control!!
Walk away and use the money to visit your brother during Oktoberfest or be prepared to put an additional 2000 into the car with or without your brother!!
Or another way ----let another sap purchase the car!!

I realize that additional monies will have to be put into the car, but was wondering if it is worth it. Let's say I can get the car for 1500 bucks, put another 2K into it, would I not have a great solid car with low miles for 3500 to 4K?
I am looking for a Benz for my son, what am I going to find for 4K with low miles?
So reasons as to WHY I should walk away from this car would be appreciated.
What is it that you do not like about it?
Thanks.

Car buying is not a rational event regardless of the age of the car--you think it's a great deal---I think it sucks---I am not buying the car--you are--and now you want support for your decision---I think your decision sucks--why, I don't know and who cares it sucks!!
Run around the neighborhood and see what the ladies think or go to a couple of bars and sample their responses------will someone chime in and support his decision!!
