Full-Size/non-Coupe GLE43

Not to confuse issues - the order bank is opening now for 2017 GLE43 full SUV (formerly GLE400) for 1st Quarter 2017 delivery

Again - this is not-coupe ... even for me, I am having a hard time keeping things straight in my head..

Keep the beat !

Is this in the US? So why is MB still showing the 2017 GLE400 on their site? Very confused with their strategy and now makes me want to dump my 16 if indeed there will be GLE43 SUV in the US

Yes, need clarification here. There should have NEVER been a GLE400 to begin with, but damn they gotta get this nonsense under control.

I couldn't have agreed more. The 400 should have become the 450 in 16 to give it enough differentiation from the 350.

Maybe 350 will be out like the E class and GLE 300 will be introduced. What kind of engine does 400 have?

Yes. Exactly. I would love to have at least some exhaust noise. Although this could be a marketing idea to make us with 400's dump ours for a newer version.

2017 GLE 400 has the 3.0L V6 Twin turbo, Not AMG Tuned. Along with the new 9G-Tronic transmission.

2017 GLE 43 will have the 3.0L V6 twin turbo, AMG Tuned. I'm assuming it will have the 9G-Tronic too. I think it would be the same setup as the GLE450 Coupe.
Thoughts?

Just hoping the price of the GLE 43 will be similar to the 2017 GLE 400.

I think if anything, it will be priced about the same as GLE 43 Coupe. $70k to 85k.

GLE 450 AMG SUV
Guys, just to be clear, 2017 GLE 43AMG SUV is NOT AT ALL based on 2016 GLE 400 SUV. It comes from GLE SUV 450 AMG which was not sold in the US, only coupe version was. For MY2017 the GLE 450 AMG was rebadged to even more underline it's AMG status as a baby AMG so it became 43 AMG.

Thank you Fletino

I think everyone is aware of that. They are just wondering why Mercedes did not just get rid off GLE 400.

People are also thinking GLE 450/AMG 43 may just be a AMG tuned GLE 400.

So the GLE 400 will not be discontinued? MB is just adding the GLE 43 to the US lineup?

GLE400 will be discontinued in US, there will be some "overlap" between ending production GLE400 and starting production GLE43 SUV....

"Mercedes-Benz GLE400
 Orders will no longer be accepted for the GLE400 on or about September 15, 2016
Mercedes-AMG GLE43
 Order Banks will open for the GLE43 as of today, August 26, 2016
 Retail launch anticipated for early 2017
Please note: GLE400 orders will not automatically be converted to AMG GLE43 orders.

MBUSA, come on get it together. This should have been the standard for 2017, not a running change, but once again it proves that manufacturers can do anything they want whenever they want.

MY17 E43 Matte Selenite/Macchiato Beige, MY16 GLE350d Tenorite/Crystal Grey, MY17 B250
It is the delays in EPA testing approvals for every new engine/chassis configuration that is messing everything up for all manufacturers.

Safe to assume that MBUSA is going to continue offering the already certified GLE400 as a MY17 until the GLE43 certification is received. Actually quite a smart move.

No - what Mercedes is doing is building exactly what they planned to build for GLE400 - and no more, no less..

Has nothing to do with the EPA - other than Diesel and "Hybrid" - EPA gasser approvals by-and-large have been per anticipated schedule.

Options from the 2016 C450 I'd like to see in the 2017 GLE 43:

Red Seat Belts
Red Interior Stitching
Cranberry Red/Black Leather seats
designo Saddle Brown Nappa Leather
Head-Up Display

Options from the 2017 C43 I'd like to see in the 2017 GLE 43:

Diamond Grille with AMG logo
'BiTurbo 4Matic' fender badge
Silver AMG logo Calipers

This GLE400 should have been replaced by the GLE43 in MY16. It's just MB's way of squeezing more profit by using up the parts in the spare part bin imo.

GLE 43 engine

Hi All

does the GLE 43 SUV get the same engine as the new E43? Or does it have the same smaller turbo and ECU as the GLE 450 coupe?

So - someone is asking if the GLE43/full will have the same engine as the GLE43/coupe - yes !

The E43 is AMG Performance lineup - and the GLE43/both versions are AMG Sport lineup

Are you saying there are 3 AMG lines?

AMG
AMG Performance
AMG Sport

What category does the C43 GLC43 and SLC43 fall into?

Hi fabbrisd1,
If the gle43/full has the same engine as the gle43 coupe, is it safe to say, the price will be very similar?

Guys

I was talking about "E"43 that's coming out the end of the year or next year. Not GLE 43.

The spec shown on MB website for E43 has higher HP and Torque than the current C43 and GLE43 coupe. It is said to have bigger turbo and different ECU program that improve the performance.

oops. sorry. just read Fabbrisd1 response more carefully. I thought Mercedes Benz decided to get rid of the AMG Sport line and just make 43 models the baby AMG in the AMG line up.
