Diamond White Metallic Vs. Polar White

Has anyone seen a GLC in diamond white metallic? It is what I initially ordered but they are unable to give me allocation with this color. Should I change to Polar White or will I be disappointed? Thanks!

I have worked for Benz for a long time, and have seen every color they have to offer. Nothing is better than diamond white in my opinion. That being said, a polar white car is considerably better than no car! I have a polar white w204 and like it a lot. But if you can hold out for diamond white you certainly won't be disappointed.

My wife has a GLC in the Designo, and I have a C-Class in the Polar. I like both; but my personal feeling is the Designo leans a little Yin with the pearlescence. Polar was the right shade for what I was looking for.

I would think you will always be disappointed with a second choice. I would hang in there for your first choice or (if that works in the US, definitely does in the UK) try another dealer who does have the relevant build slots for the car you want.

Ordered a Polor White GLC recently. I did seriously consider the Diamond White Metallic but just couldn't justify the $1500 charge, and decided to put those $s into some useful options.

Another reason had to do with color matching, if the car needed body work in the future. A metallic (even white) can be difficult to match. Polar White would be much easier. I say this because my wife's Audi Q5 has been hit 4 times in the parking lot, with 4 separate repairs over the 6 years she's had it. And the paint match is spot on. Something to consider if you keep a car for a long time.

My wife has a Lexus RX in pearl white.
We have a Senenite Grey GLC and have just ordered a GLC Coupe in polar white.
Diamond white is a bit too creamy or yellow beside polar and whilst the metallic flex is nice, it's also much harder to repair or colour match.
We will have the polar white receive a paint treatment protection, so it will continue to "pop" and be easier to keep clean.
Again, difficult choice, good luck, whatever you decide will be correct.

I have a CLS in Diamond white and it is an amazing color especially when parked next to polar white. I was in the same boat and was just worried the diamond white would look likes GM's pearl white and be yellow but so glad i went with it stands out nicely

We had the same questions. Diamond White is a fancy word for Pearl or Dirty White. WE like POlar white much better and have it on both of our vehicles.

There maybe cultural differences here as well. In the UK we have this saying; white van man. Polar white reminds me of that. Like the cheapest flat white paint available. Perfect for commercial vehicles with signage or that dented and scratched at a builders yard.

Personally I don't get why anyone would like that on their pride and joy. Perhaps I can muster up some appreciation if it is a little Renault Clio, but on a nice car like the GLC no way.

But it's just an opinion, I never buy cars to please anyone else. We all have a difference reference and like different things.

If you like the off-white, pearly looking color then go with the diamond white but if you just like a white car without having a metallic look, then go with Polar White. I just wanted a white car, so I went with Polar White and use the extra $1500 on other upgrades.

I was in the same boat. I love the designo diamond white but I couldn't quite justify the $1500 boost. I went for more interior upgrades since I spend more time in my car than looking at it

A gaggle of MB's
If "rock chips" are a issue in your area - Polar White recommended as easier to touchup - metallics including Designo Diamond White can't be touched-up-well.

The reason Designo Diamond White is more expensive - like other luxury brand metallic whites - only one Japanese company supplies the white metallic pigment + more expensive spray process for this type color

I had Diomand White on my ML which I returned back to Mercedes Benz after the lease ended and it looked stunning on that. I have gone with Polar White on the GLC as I can't justify paying extra for something that I am not going to keep. I intend to return the GLC after the 3 years are complete. I saw the polar white on the GLC and liked it and hence went with it.

This is true. My front bumper was resprayed before I took delivery because when the yellowed PPF was removed some paint also came off. In certain lighting conditions it doesn't match exactly.
