TPMS and new wheels

Evening chaps,
I have bought new alloy wheels for my car. The existing TPMS valves are 6 years old so should I put new ones in to the new wheels? Do I need them or am I stuck with them as my car is fitted with the option? Should I buy new OEM TPMS valves or aftermarket ones? Will they need re-setting by the dealer or can I do it or the tyre fitter? Any other problems I will experience? Thx in advance. garno

Typically you'd just swap the existing sensors over to the new wheels and the car never knows the difference. They're powered by little batteries so eventually they'll die but no telling when. Probably not a bad idea to replace them as long as you have access.

They need to be there or the car will never shut up about it. OEM or aftermarket are fine, just make sure you get the same frequency as OEM.

No coding needed, just drive for awhile and they'll sync up automatically.

FYI-- My sensors are not 10 years old and still accurately reporting tire pressure. The battery in my trunk is still the original. The battery under the hood died after 7 years.

You can get brand new oem ones off ebay for like 79.99 prob cheaper than uninstalling from your old tires and reinstalling. again double check frequency.

Do you need to dismount tires...

I bought a new set recently

OK more than a year ago. I never have time

Bought these OEM 20's and didn't put them on for over 6 months as I was hesitant about ride quality and coming from the factory 19's. Absolutly love the look with them.
