Best pricing new s550

I have been working this hard trying to either get a new 2016 or 2017 (with desired color scheme). It is pretty easy to get to 10k off of the MSRP on the 2017 but nearly 20k on the 2016s (obviously the more stuff on them the more the discount but for me it is MSRP in the 109-114 range.)

I dont think there is much of a way to cut this down further. ANy ideas?

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
A lot of this has to do with dealers receiving subsidies ("Dealer Cash") from MBUSA. It can vary from month to month. I'm not sure what the current deal is, but if you are a vet, check the USAA car buying service, as I saved like $2,500.00 on my 2015 S550, over and above the dealer discount. I believe that I ended up with a total of 14% off MSRP. Good luck.

Wow, that is a big discount. Was it at the beginning of 2015 when you purchased it?

Fracmeister, There are quite a few 2016's sitting around right now, and with the 2017's hitting the showroom, the 2016's are inventory they are going to be very aggressive to move. The S550 is not a high volume car sale, and right now are moving slowly as well.
You should be able to get a good deal on a 2016.

If it were me, I would get at least 2 dealers involved competing for your business. I can almost guarantee you your deal will get better.

The tough part is finding the vehicles with the options you want let alone two to deal on. I wouldn't let the last 2-3K put me into a car that doesn't have what i want. The pain of the extra money goes away but wishing you had a certain option stays with you every time you open the door. Keep in mind I tend to buy used but overpay a little and get used vehicle with extra options and < 5000 miles that is as close to new cosmetically as I find. I think a better way to save. Dave

Last few cars I purchased were Used. I used AutoTrader, set up my exact options, CPO, Photos Only and Dealer Only. I receive an email when a car becomes available. I quickly look at the price, millage and jump to the interior photos.... I look at the selector buttons on the left side of the dash and at a minimum make sure there are 6. Night Vision, HID..... Now I jump to the photo of the inside of the rear door and look for additional goodies.... no buttons on the door, no need to hunt through pages of options.... Just a quick and dirty way to weed out the overpriced cars without options I want. Photos get you the quick answers. Type of seats, AMG sport package, bermister 3d etc....

Take your time, and don't settle.... time is on your side.... Cars come off lease every 2 years, you can find some sweet deals if you are patient. Trust me, I did not mind getting a Fully Loaded 2014 S550 4Matic, Every Option but the Fridge for under 75K, CPO only 28k on the ticker.... Sticker $146K Options alone were around 35K

Fracmeister,

I think the first question you would ask yourself, is if you plan on keeping this car for a long time, or just 2-3 years? If it's short term, then I would find a good lease. If it's long term, I would take your time and find a good deal on a used one the way u like it.

Long term if my past is any measure. I never sell cars. I drive them 3-10+ years and give them to my kids (I have lot of them). Or some idiot totals them for me.

The problem is "the way I want it" involves a color only available on the 2017 so I just ordered a new one. Oh well, it is just money

7% off MSRP and no Delivery Charge if you order it for European Delivery.

Nice idea but less than the dealer gave me on a new 2017/

You can definitely get 10k off a 2017 easily and 20 off a new 2016

The European Delivery 7% comes in addition to whatever you negotiate with your local dealer.

Most dealers will not go beyond an additional 3% beyond the 7% for a Euro Delivery if you can get them off the initial 7% to go a bit higher.

I remember looking at this very heavily when I bought my '14 S550 4matic that was a Euro Delivery car. Then that car was totaled at 16000 miles by an idiot driver--but I completely tested the safety systems by hitting a tree at 60mph. When I ordered my '16 S550 4matic in June of 2015 a couple of days after the accident, I received a 10% discount when the '16s were just beginning the manufacturing process in Sindelfingen.

The "initial 7%" is not theirs (the dealer's) to negotiate. It's "manufacturer's money".

A European Delivery sale barely affects their "regular margin" and has some other immediate benefits that are better than a domestic sale for them.

That said, getting much more than 5% from their margin is tough, but can be done as there are examples enough on this forum.

Yes I know about the initial 7%. Have you done Euro Delivery? I have and have talked to dealers across the country as recently as 14 months ago. Of course, like most things times change. So I suppose you could get an additional 5% but I highly doubt it. Let me know what dealer will give you an additional 5% above the 7% and I will talk to that dealer to schedule my next Euro Delivery.

Also, I do not recall a 5% additional amount on the S Class Forum here. The largest was 3% from the Escondido, CA dealer atleast on the forum. I am in PA can have the car shipped to my local dealer purchased through any dealer so let me know where you can get the 5%. Thanks.

Yes, I've done 3 in the last 4 years. Most recently an S Class Convertible.
As far as dealers with aggressive discount strategies, I'm afraid you're on your own.
But I will say that Southeast Florida is an interesting place to consider when you shop for your next car.

I just looked at your recent posts. Looks like you did a Euro Delivery just this summer. Your car looks great!
