2011 c300 - low beam bulbs

Hi everyone,

Anyone have any suggestions on which low beam bulb should I get? I do not think my car is equipped with lighting package and my low beams are like yellow color. Would like it to be more white or white/blue. And I don't think i would like to convert them to HID.

Thanks in advance.

If you want white, but not an HID conversion, Philips Diamond visions are the whitest halogen bulbs on the market. However, they will be lower lumen. LEDs are an option, but not ideal for housing not design to capture LED surface mounted lighting spread. You'll end up with reduced throw distance and uneven lighting.

Wow lower lumen, does that mean it wouldn't be as bright as the stock bulbs? Then that's not good..

I bought Phillips Crystal Vision and am unhappy. Lower light than stock so I am pulling them out soon and tossing them in the bin.

I am going to try a similar bulb from Osram that has way more lumens than the Philips. The Osram Cool Blue Intense at around 4200k has 1500 lumens while those Philips Crystal Vision have only 1140 lumens.

Diamond Vision are only at 935 lumen so even less bright than the Crystal Vision I want to remove.

I would pass on the Philips bulbs.

I should get them in a few days or so and will post my findings. Even the plain old H7 bulbs in my 2000 Honda Civic beater with foggy headlight lenses are brighter than the Philips Crystal. My fault for not reading the fine print when buying and looking at the lumens they put out.

I'll try and remember to snap before and after pics of Philips Crystal vs Osram Cool Blue Intense.

The Sylvania Silverstar Ultras are actually Osram bulbs and are a nice improvement over the standard halogen bulbs. (1571 Lumens) The Ultra ZXE are even 'whiter' but really no brighter...

Thank you Twowheelin. Maybe it looks like I got to convert to HID. I just dont like the thought of drilling the headlight dust cap.

Holes in dust cap isn't really that big a deal to be honest. And you can always get replacement caps for like $15 from dealer later if you want to go back to stock. Several of those halogen bulbs in question are blue tinted bulb which is how it looks whiter than they really are. However, also keep in mind that the blue film will deteriorate and you're back to that yellowish color.

Check out the Osram Rally 65 Watt Special Service H7 it has a 2100 Lumens. I use them and have gotten two years out of them.

I ordered them from http://store.candlepower.com/h7bulbs.ht

they price are good and the service is excellent.

Have had SS Ultras in my 3 year old Honda and 6 year old Jeep with no issues. No yellowing and no 'dead bulbs'. I am satisfied with my personal experiences and currently use them in the W204.

Comparison: Osram 65W Rallye vs SS Ultra 55W

The bulbs I ordered from Candlepower on Friday arrived today. Here's the comparison taken about 45 minutes apart on the same road.

Here is the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra 55W.

This is the Osram Rallye 65W from Candlepower Inc.

Oh wow. That's awesome bro. You can tell the difference. Is that street legal? Or only used off road only?

Something to keep in mind with whiter bulbs, you will lose some depth perception in the wet and rain. The whiter bulbs seem to help out most in the dry. Just my 2 cents. I always reccomend Yellow fogs with white low beams. I just put yellow high beam bulbs in my C350 since I have the led bars where the foglights were.
