Thumbs up New (to me) Blue E320 CDI and 3M Headlight restore w/ pics

Whats up everybody- Been lurking these posts for a while now but now that Ive got my E320 I wanted to introduce myself and share my little project last night

There have been other posts on here about this 3M kit to restore these oxidized headlights and I decided to go that route.

Picked up this little kit from Wally World yesterday for less than 20 bucks.
Some other places Ive read say that for the large lights on these cars you may need 2 kits but the provided sandpaper in one was more than enough for me. I will say that it was clutch to have a back up battery though for the drill as the first one died before finishing

After pretty easy going hour and a half, a little elbow grease, and a couple beers- Vwala!

Very happy with the results

Welcome to the club! The headlight and parking lights look new. I am fortunate in that my cdi is parked inside and see little damage from the sun.

Did the kit come with a protective coating to spray on the headlight after polishing? Without some UV protection, they'll be yellow again way too soon.

Just the rubbing compound included which i dont believe provided any UV protection. Im hoping that since it will be kept primarily garaged at my house or office that it will last but do you have something you would recommend?

Worst case, I can just get another kit and knock it out again when the time comes. It was pretty painless

Use minwax helmsman exterior poly[clear gloss] 50/50 mixture of paint thinner and the poly then apply with a small microfiber cloth to seal the headlights.
