Lighter weight Battery Group 90 Easy Bolt In

I had been debating on a lighter battery such as Braille or Deka 21lb. It seems the lighter power sport batteries work for some but not others. I had an occasion to pull the E55 battery out when my wife's Dodge Charger was having some real strange starting issues to swap it into her car. I noticed the battery tray is actually set up for 3 different size batteries. There are 3 sets of holes w/ threaded inserts for the battery hold down bracket and bolt. The MB battery being the largest and covering the other 2 holes. So now I just needed a battery 9.5 inches in length w/ the lip on the lower edge of the case for the hold down bracket. My research brought me to a group 90 or 90/t5 battery. Duracell, Interstate and Advanced Auto make these and weight is 32.5 lbs w/ 600cca and a higher reserve than the power sports battery. I purchased the Duracell from Batteries plus bulbs https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/sli90t5 cost was 97.00 w/ 10% discount coupon available on their website. The battery bolted into the smallest area perfectly, terminals were in the correct place, the original vent line plugged in , the red plastic positive terminal cover plugged in. The MB battery weighed 58.2 lbs Duracell was 33lbs on the official bathroom scale. Solid 25 lbs savings. Works fine spins it over just as fast as the larger MB battery.

Any problems with the electical system at all since putting in the smaller battery. This did go into your 04 E55?

How has it held up. 25lbs is a good gain.

Yes it went into the E55. No issues functions the same as OEM. I do not drive the car in the winter. Would not be the best choice at very low temps. This week Started and drove car after sitting 3 weeks in 45 degree garage. 20 degrees outside. Started and drove 10 miles no problems.
