Dome light

Any tips to remove dome light cover for W211 E63? I guess we need to use a flat screwdriver to remove it but what is the proper way to do it? I don't want to brake it. Thanks.

I use a butter knife with the tip covered with a southern bloomer gun cleaning patch.

Or buy a formal plastic pry tool set

Thanks, I just bought a a set in ebay for 5 bucks. Hopefully it will make the job easier. I need to remove the dome light cover so I can use spay adhesive to glue to sagging headliner.

The saggy headliner sucks.

But yes, you are on the right path, just pry it out. Mine was pretty damn hard to take out on my E500, i had to put so much pressure on it that once it came out, it flew out and ripped the flat wire connector. Slow and steady pressure and keep a hand under the light once it gives. Repairing the flat wire connection was a major PIA.

There are 2 tabs about 2 inches apart on the button side facing the rear of the car. Push in and then pry down with 2 of the tools you bought and it will pop out . Be careful and good luck!!!

I'm still waiting for the pry tool. The backup sensor light seems to an easier target, has anyone removed it before? Thanks.

Push the lens towards the passenger side and pull down on the drivers side at an angle then unclip electrical connector.

Sounds easy! I'm glad that I've asked. I did try with a flat screwdriver but it didn't come out. I didn't want to put too much pressure so I stopped there. Thanks again.

Thanks to the tips, I had no problem to remove the lights but there was not enough space to spay and the spay was no strong enough to reach the rear window side. This problem needs to be handle by the professional. Oh well, I did give it a try. I was quoted to replace to the whole headliner for $300 by a mobile service. Thanks again.

I have the same issue with my headliner, let me know how that $300 job works out, that's really cheap!

It seems all of those headliners fall. Mine is too.

Who out here has glued their own?

Did it glue nice without anything showing up from the glue?

I tried glue, it doesn't work. Super 88 did nothing.

One of these should work. Automotive grade.

It will work if you take down the headliner, clean it up, and then glue it.

Those little break down stuffs prevent the glue to work so if you can vacum and make sure the surface is clean it will make big different .

Sounds like the older GM headliners. Material coming loose from the foam backing. But there was no way to put it back properly.
The next hurdle will be getting it out of the car without breaking it. I've read over some other threads on it.

Got the quote for $300, today they jack up the price to $550. How much did you pay for yours?
