Jittering at low speeds in traffic on 2016 GTS

So guys i have noticed this very annoying issue that happens at low speeds in first gear in stop and go traffic. The car jitters sometimes heavily. Its like a rocking motion which quickly dissipates as the speed picks up. The only way around it seems to be harsh accelerations and decelerations or braking. And it does not happen at any other time.

I called MB and they said it is a 'feature'. Seems like a pretty annoying feature. Can anyone else check this for me in their cars and confirm if this is normal? The car has done 3000 kms.

Typical characteristics of a dual clutch transmission, it is normal. Not enough power/tq and speed to engage the clutch packs 100% hence the reason for only doing it at lower speeds or city driving.

It actually is a DCT. Stop speading incorrect info. Check the thread again.

EMERICR, did you delete your comment about what I said? since I do not see it on here anymore. I was just giving info that was told in the other post, but since it was incorrect, I corrected my previous comment. Relax there. edit: now I see it. either way, relax , it was what was said in another post.

It cam up on my phone but when I went to the site it wasn't there, then seen it on my computer,,, sorry for the mistake.. Yeah, I was only putting that info on here from the other post so the OP could read and inform him, unfortunately that info was wrong and you corrected it on the other post.. Glad to hear that it is a true dual clutch because I am very intrigued by the GTr.. Yeah man all good.

Thanks guys for putting my mind to rest. However my 991 has a dct too. And that one has the smoothest pick up. Almost Like a torque converter auto box. Then why would my AMG have this issue?

Also my 2011 r8 v8 behaved in a similar fashion to the amg. But that was automated manual single clutch. And I had to replace that clutch twice in the 20000 odd KMs that I kept that car.

You can't compare the PDK to the DCT in these AMG's, no comparison regarding smoothness of shifts. The AMG's have gotten their shifts nearly as quick as the PDK but not as smooth and fluid. That being said the AMG DCT will handle a bigger load and higher torque launches better than the PDK.

Bull****, I have both and the PDK is bullet proof. You can launch it all day and it never misses a beat, and it is more responsive at colder temperatures. God you people offer your opinions and most of the time do not even own the cars.

First off I own(ed) both! I said nothing about dependability. I am talking about max torque loads their clutches can handle. You are clueless if you think the PDK can handle the same torque loads as the AMG DCT. I own and have built the most powerful AMG's on earth, I know the exact limitations of the AMG DCT(as well as MCT and TQ) transmissions/clutch packs. I am also familiar with the tq limits of the PDK and they don't compare. An AMG DCT in a GT or SLS can handle nearly 200 ft lbs more torque than the Porsche PDK clutch packs can. You are making yourself look foolish if you think the PDK can take handle more. As I stated the PDK is the smoother and slightly quicker transmission but it can't take the torque loads the AMG can.

Yeah I would say you own that argument for sure JR.

What are the torque limits for PDK and DCT ? I'm thinking 700/ ft pds on DCT.

So that means that hitching/bucking/jerking is normal? Today I drove it after. Few days of driving the Porsche and it felt even more unsmooth. The moment I hit 5 kmph and above it becomes fine.

Not normal in my opinion, but some have come to expect nothing less from this car and just accept it.

Good luck!

I agree it doesn't sound normal but at low speed deceleration mine would jitter a little bit but I just thought it was the turbo unloading. These turbos don't have a traditional waste gate or blowoff valve so on low speed deceleration they get weird. I never considered that being the trans but I guess it could have been.

I daily drive mine and have no such issues. Bring it to the dealer, maybe you need a TCU update.

Ditto for mine; smooth engagement and take-up at low speed. Doesn't cycle at all, even in walking-pace traffic.

I wonder if those Renntech Blowoffs would help in that situation?

I have been driving my GTS for 18 months now and have no issues with the transmission at all. Talk to your service manager.

Well there must be a continental corporate division.

I don't want to sound like an ***, but there are a lot more people in India then there are cars ......how are the roads there and where do you drive the GT?
