Question CLK55 CAMSHAFTS IN A W220

Anyone have any experience in installing cams from a CLK55 AMG into a M113 NA motor? I have a set of 2005 CLK55 AMG camshafts and a W220 S500 that I am thinking of installing them into. What kind of HP gains would it see? The car already has a Renntech intake box and secondary cats and mufflers delete. I understand it is a direct bolt on and the springs and rockers are the same. Any tips or advice would be both helpful and appreciated!

The bulk of the horsepower gain of the AMG. Engine is the 0.5 liter additional displacement , not the cam. Considering everything only gave 40hp id think the cam alone would be good for 14-20hp max

My total cost for everything wont even exceed 250.00 with me doing the labor, so I feel cost per hp is more than great if it sees those numbers. Are you aware of any hotter cam that's compatible that would do even better from a different series?

Don't you think the ECU would need to be re-mapped?

There's a risk that would lose power and damage the engine.

I'm not normally a can't-do-that kind of guy, but I wouldn't try that.

No, the factory ECU will easily handle the additional lift/air intake volume and the injectors should be fine as well.

You might guess the answer is yes, but it's not necessarily the case.

I don't think so, those older 113/273 engines were speed density I think.

But, for an OEM cam, the difference is minor, very minor.

Yes, the car has a MAF sensor...every W220 chassis car does. Metering the air and adjusting the injector pulse is easy for the ECU to accomplish. The MAF is located just above the 90 degree elbow that connects to the throttle body and the same sensor provides intake air temp as well.

No MAF

Huh???
So what are these thingies made by Bosch with an arrow marked "Durchfluss" (113 094 00 48), screen in the front, and a small wire sensor behind, mounted in front of the throttle body?

Something I missed ? 'm ready to learn!

The M275 does not have a MAF. The 272/273 does, but not every engine, so you can't say "all w220s" as the S600 does not have a MAF.

OK, I thought everyone reading would take for granted I was discussing the M113/na motors found in W220 cars. Yes...they all have a MAF sensor. The W220/S600 variant does not (to best of my knowledge) but then again this thread is not about that. I have found several mentions of swapping cams with every instance showing happy owners and noticeable gains. I am looking for anyone with hard dyno sheet numbers on the swap or helpful advice on completing the swap.

Not every 220 chassis car has a MAF.

Depends on what engine is in that chassis.

The M275 engine does not have a MAF.

Edit: I see that this has been pointed out.

I wouldn't take for granted that you were discussing one engine type (of several) that are in the chassis when you said, "every 220 chassis car does".

Ugh, ok. Well I'll take for granted that if you're putting CLK55 camshafts in your engine than it certainly doesn't have twelve pistons swinging off the crank...Jeeze guys, I'm just trying to get some real dyno numbers...

I don't think you'll get real dyno numbers as no one has ever done a back to back dyno run Just swapping the cam

but my 14-20. Hp estimate above is very close

Would you recommend doing the swap and what other part numbers (valve springs, etc.) are needed? I have a CLK500 and found some 55 camshafts for a good price. I currently have a tune and exhaust.
