Tired of turning on the stupid wipers...

...in every other car I drive! LOL I know its not just me. Tell me you don't reach for the shifter on the steering column in other cars you drive like you do in your MB and turn on the windshield wipers!

I get in my wife's Cayenne go to put it in reverse and on come the wipers, my truck, rental cars same thing! In fact I do it repeatedly in the same vehicles. I have to laugh every time I do it.

Anyone else confess to doing this?

Yup... I don't get why a high end car like this has the gear selector like an old pickup truck or Cadillac... :-/

I personally am a big fan of the gear selector. I feel it helps keep the center console less cluttered as well as making it supper easy when backing out of parking spots then pulling away.

Haha, yeah it happens to me too with the civic (gas saver haha). The Denali has the gear shift on the column, so not much off.

More so what I find is I FORGET TO PUT OTHER CARS IN PARK! Since the C63 will automatically go to park when you turn off the car, I've gotten used to just turning the car off and getting out. Now the other cars keep yelling at me to put it in park.

+1!

I hated the idea of it before I bought my car. It was one of my biggest hang-ups about feeling totally confident in choosing MB over the BMWs and AUDIs I was looking at. Now I understand the convenience and genius behind it. And now I HATE driving cars with the fake stick. I can't believe I let a fake & pointless shifter stick influence my thought process so much.

Friggin turn on the damn wipers every. single. time.

In a BMW you turn on the automatic wipers by pushing the button on the end of the right hand lever. After driving BMWs for 6 years, that same button activating Park is a little bit of a problem. So far I've only parked it once on an icy driveway at very low speed, trying to turn on the wipers. Took me a second to figure out wtf happened as I skidded to a stop.

MB at least allows you to leave the auto wipers on.

All the time in my wifes Nissann Murano... It was kind of nice when I had my Infiniti as all the contols were the same.

That being said the MB selector has really grown on me and it is great in parking lots. I was skeptical at first but I think I prefer it now. However I wish all of our cars had it in the same place.

That steering-mounted gear selector allows space for the MB waterfall center console, which is one of the BEST interiors in the market. There is no "need" for a gear selector to be in the center console and it isn't a sign of "low end" or "high end".

You mean to say, when one drives pretty much any other car, they have a better, more logical control layout.
