Torn between a White and Grey C300..

Option 1 MSRP's at $48.8k:
  • Polar White exterior
  • Sport Black MB-Tex interior
  • Linden Wood Trim
  • Premium Package 1
  • Rear Deck Spoiler
  • Sport Package
  • Night Package
  • Panorama Roof
  • +Plus all other standard options that would be part of these packages.
They will throw in window tint and a $1000 to go to an audio shop and have a subwoofer thrown in as I wanted the Premium Package 2, but all other options tick the boxes on my asks (night package, sport package, panorama roof).

Option 2 MSRP's at $51.2k:
  • Selenite Grey Metallic exterior
  • Sport Black MB-Tex interior
  • Ash Wood Trim
  • Premium Package 2 (Burmester sound and LED headlights + tail lights)
  • Rear Deck Spoiler
  • Sport Package
  • Night Package
  • Panorama Roof
  • LED Logo Projector from the bottom of the doors (I am indifferent to this)
  • +Plus all other standard options that would be part of these packages.

I feel that the white may look best from what I have seen in pictures, but I have not yet seen this car in person as they would have to bring it in from another state ... at the same time, I lose that sound system, plus LED, and I don't think that $1000 at an audio shop will get me much further than an amp w/ sub.

I was in the same dillema. Eventually I went with white and I feel like I made the right choice. White makes it look bigger.

The difference in the two colors is depth and variation. The C has a lot of complex contours that are accentuated in a metallic finish. The way light plays off of the surfaces gives the car a lot of visual interest. White, while clean looking, tends to deemphasize the contours and flatten them out. I'd do the gray.

I say the gray as well.

And whatever you do, don't pay MSRP

Oh yeah, definitely not. I already have my buddy's employee discount control code thrown in there as well.

Regardless of the color, option #2 has a much nicer set of equipment with it ... and the price difference is really not that much.

Make sure not to get any c class without the lighting package. I would try finding some c400 if you can wait. They are optioned well.

The three stage white is nice. Not a fan of the Polar (2 stage).

I actually had a mineral white 3 series before my current Sel Grey C300. White is beautiful when clean. The grey is much lower maintenance. I love the way the C300 looks in all the darker colours.

Get the silver, White is a pain in the ***...

Otherwise you'll be entering into an endless cycle of cleaning to make it look as it should...

Or or if you loose your mind you'll end up wet sanding it and polishing to to Jewell and maintaining it twice a week...

Amd no 1k on aftermarket sound won't make much difference..

Here is my 2017 polarwhie c300 with sport package and premium package three I prefer the white because I feel the darker gray colors would show swirls and be more maintenance when they're dirty. I wanted iridium but it was not being produced in the packages I wanted at the time I got my car November. Tint is 15% all around.

Selenite grey (metallic and magno) is my favorite color on the C/E class. I'd pick it over the white although I have a polar white. Plus additional options for not much more.

The cars in these pictures look great. I love how the white looks when paired up with the sport and night package. I feel like that night package goes a bit unnoticed on the dark paint jobs, but I do see exactly what you mean, Mike. I do worry that I will regret not having the LED headlights and the sound system all in favor of a white paint job ... tough choice.

We do have an iridium silver here in town but that is optioned out in the same way as the polar white.

The non Burmester (Audio 20) is really, really cheap and cheap sounding. Like transistor AM radio cheap if you remember those. Four 4" midrange speakers, one small woofer in the footwell, no tweeters. The Burmester is no prize but at least you have some equipment to work with (two 8" footwell subs, four tweeters, center and surround speakers (plus the four 4" mids from the A20)

For a grand, I'd replace the front door speakers with coaxials (so you get tweeters) and do a sub/amp in the trunk. You could probably squeak by at $1k if the sub wasn't crazy. An infinity BassLink would do the trick (around $400) and a set of MTX Thunder 40's ($80). Or the Focal KRS100 2 way components for better door speakers ($700 new, sometimes on eBay for $350)

Like I mentioned before...

the c class is a great car when optioned well.

try looking around for a white or designo white optioned out. You can find a lot more due to so many lease returns coming in. The grey looks great but trust me at night the white pops with the led headlights and taillights. White is easy to take car of especially the designo because the pearl color hides blemishes. Grey is very easy to maintain as well, but white just looks so much cleaner when cleaned.

And yes audio and headlights are key, some people say you can add all these options but trust me it's a pain in the ***. Just have patience and find something done right.

White looks clean from 10ft away.. hence folks say its easy to maintain. but IF the OP is detail oriented it shows every single piece of dust.. immediately.. which can be annoying... also any stone chips on the bumper show through severely as the base material colour is black..

On the bright side when you use fallout remover (such as iron-x) on white its bleeds like a stuck pig and that's always fun to watch..
The polar white is commendably hard too, which makes polishing albeit time consuming relatively easy to achieve a high finish..

I have had two black Mercedes before and I love the black that Mercedes has, but within a month in the sun the smallest blemishes start showing. Take that photo with direct sun light and I can guarantee you have swirls marks just from driving. Even with hand washing and using the best techniques black is a pain in the ... to take care of. I love detailing cars but to me pearl white is one of my top favorite colors. it changed colors depending on the lighting and the way the red led taillights pop

I know how tough it is, I love a clean black car. It just sucks because I'm so ocd about my car that black is seriously a nightmare for me. I bought a e350 and my dealership took it through there car wash when I told them not too, and added swirls all around.

After that I can't ever buy a black car again. Pearl white is my go too, I had a starfire Lexus and loved that paint job. The only problem is that it's really hard to match the paint if anything ever happens. whenever you to decide to buy another Mercedes make sure to find the color best suited.
