Recommendations on Cross Bars?
I was looking online for quiet cross bars for the roof rails. Yakima and Thule both make ones that are low profile and apparently very quiet, while still looking really nice (i.e., don't stick up really high off the top of the car). However, I have read some issues with sunroof clearance when cargo boxes are loaded on there because the cross bars are so low.
Anyone have advice on which ones will work?
Thanks

Whispbar. I don't think Yakima nor Thule make anything near as aero or low profile. The Whispbars look like they belong there vs how the other brands bars look. We have the small sunroof, so can't comment on clearance with the larger one.

We ordered ours from the dealer at time of purchase and paid $550+ (included the ski rack bars as well) and insisted on free install as part of the sale. Unfortunately MBZ in all its brilliance decided to change the fitting for 2017 so the ski rack did not fit the crossbars and we had to make yet another 120 mile roundtrip to the dealer when the replacement rack arrived. However it looks great now and is super-easy to unlock and load.
On the minus side, the wind noise is quite noticeable at freeway speeds, and it significantly increases the total clearance required, so much so that it is too high for our garage. of course, I don't mind as it's my wife's car so I can still park my BMW sedan inside
