2014 E550 4MATIC TUNED - Turbo Upgraded Stage 3
Updated ECU, Transmission and Fuel Module software - And Tuned car warranty info
Just came back from MB dealers.
I have got a 2014 E550 Sedan
Did the following updates.
1. ECU
2. Fuel module
3. SAM
4. Transmission
Transmission felt more crisp and aggressive shifting.
Car felt more responsive.
And...for those who tuned their ECU.
MB dealers will flag you right the way when ECU is connected (Online)
When ECU is connected, info will send to Germany straight.
They can deny your warranty if they want.
All depends on if they want to help you or not.
Good luck for those who tuned ECUs, include myself.

Just curious. Did you have a reported / suspected problem with your ECU or was your ECU software update something MB decided to do as part of some regular service?
Thanks for confirming that local MB service departments have the ability to scan the ECU code and validate if any code is detected that different from the stock software load. I had suspected that MB could do that, since it is technically simple to do. But you're the first person to confirm they do it routinely and MB corporate is automatically notified of any code deviation and flag the vehicle immediately.

I need these new files for the new turbo and new TUNE!!!
For those who are on stock tune, they should go to MB and do the updates.
Car felt much more responsive.
And, yes, they can see everything once they connect your ECU to their system.

Thank you for posting this - both because I have a 2013 E550, and also because its just another piece of evidence that a tune = warranty risk for those covered still. There's been too many years of mixed/false info on this (I posted that if you buy a Renntech tune at a dealer you pretty much go right onto the naughty list after talking to my Renntech authorized dealer) and it's good that newbies searching can now see a few definitive threads on the topic.
To clarify - did your dealer know you were tuned or tell you they detected the tune? If it was the prior - was it more of a courtesy to tell you that was happening now? If the latter, what did they say?

interesting...
Coco what exactly did you ask them for the transmission? I have an ecu waiting for me from EuroCharged I just have to find the time to pull the ecu and send it which will be very soon hopefully. I'm thinking I should go to the dealer first and do all updates then do the ecu. But mine is a 12 so it may not be the same updates... I know you are up in Canada but what did they charge you to do updates?

I brought mine in for a service the week before I sent in my ECU lol... hopefully mine is all up to date until the next one, which I have to remember to do at 5k miles now. Edit: Oh! And get your spark plugs done if you're getting tuned as well... especially for pre-2014 models, since they changed the spark plugs that year and now they're a step colder.

When Service manager saw my car, he asked me if the car is tuned. I had to say yes.
I don't want to lie to them since i need all the software updates.
Service manager told me it will get flagged right the way once its plugged in.
If it gets flagged, they might not be able to do anything for me.
But things turns out, they did all the updates for me.
It will cost few hundreds dollars to do this updates.
ECU is back to stock mapping and file. its nothing to do with any of tuners such as EC,RT, Weistec...etc.
Once you did this ECU update, your EC, RT, Weistec...ECU tune will be gone.
I felt the car is more responsive because transmission shifting point is totally changed.
Fuel module is also updated, but i m not sure if that makes any difference.
BUT, WOT is not as strong as My old ECU Tune for sure. (Oh well, its stock tune...lol)

Glad the new stock has some improvements for you. Are you planning on reinstalling the tune or getting a new one? Or are those days behind you?

My tuner told me to do all the updates with MB dealers.
He needs those new files for my turbo upgrade tune.

Thanks for the info, very helpful...I have a few questions:
1) Do you know if there are software ECU/Fuel/SAM/Tranny updates for the E350?
2) How much did these updates cost?
3) If my car is still under original factory warranty, will these software updates be done gratis?
Thanks

When you go there, please don't wait, it'll take more than 1.5 hrs, tell them some story and get a loaner vehicle and get out of there(unless you want to stay there, your wish)
I gave my vehicle at 8, and started the loaner vehicle process at 10.40..!
Also, while you were there, get
1. Sticker price if the vehicle, if you don't have it already with you.
2. Get the list of service records, what is done, what needs to be done at what mileage etc. So, you can plan your future maintenance records, accordingly.
3. I actually have jumpy upshifting from 2-3 or 3-4; hope that will get fixed today.
The new COMMAND firmware update helps mpg, re-activates and uses the sensors correctly, might have a slight interface update(will pick up my vehicle tomorrow morning), maps won't be updated for free.

You should give MB a call, give them your VIN. They should be able to check for you.
I didn't get a price for these updates. I am sorry, no idea how much these would cost.
These updates should be covered under warranty.
As long as you are under warranty, shouldn't have to pay for it.
