Woah. Blown V12!
M120 V12 + Vortech Supercharger (what looks to be) = 600 hp R129!
I wonder how much boost the M120 can handle with stock internals. A 350Z can handle 5-6 psi on stock internals and make reliable power, and the M120 several worlds superior to the 350Z motor. Temptation is toying with me...

What a relief
I thought, based on the title, that you were going to report a blown(up) engine. I feel the same way as you. I'd like to add a supercharger to my 600, but I don't know of a factory approved model. If you find one, I'd really like to know about it.

Huh?
That picture just doesn't look right to me. Is that on the SL600? Maybe the picture is zoomed in to far for me to get a reference, but it just doesn't look like the V12 I'm familiar with. If it IS the same engine, can you tell us something about the supercharger? Who is it from? It's not AMG, is it??
Have you put it on the dyno? If so, can you tell about the HP & torque? What about a power/torque curve... do you have a printout? I'd really like to know as much as possible about this little puppy. How about fuel economy? Please... spill all the beans.

Imagine what would happen if I put this supercharger in my SL73 AMG...
...but I'd never do this, this would be the destruction of an original AMG car...
@HLG600
The Pagani Zonda 1st series used the Original 6.0l V12 engine from Mercedes-Benz without any AMG tuning.
The later Zonda cars used different AMG tuned variants of the M120 V12 engine (7.0L V12, 7.3L V12)

Hmmm.... This gives me an idea. How about just stripping about 2000lbs of weight from the car. That would make it handle like mad, and go like mad too.
Lets see how it stacks up now. 2 Tons, and 400 horsepower. Breathtaking acceleration.
Modded with weight reduction. 1 Ton and 400 Horsepower. We got something going there.
Then supercharge it. It would be fast.

I have searched everywhere for a supercharger for the 600 with no luck. I had a 95 sl600 and recently purchased a Renntech modified SL74, but now, 585HP isn't enough. I'd love to find a supercharger for this car, but I'm afraid the tranny would fry. It's been upgraded by renntech but still struggles with the horsepower.
The biggest problem, besides the limited space in the engine compartment, is the dual intakes. The intakes would have to be routed together and then separated again, and there is no space for all of this extra plumbing.

I bet you pity us suckers who are stuck with only 302 HP.
Hey, I've done some work with GE's jet engine department -- maybe I can hook you up with somebody overthere. They'd maybe give you a deal on one of the test engines.
ROCK ON!!!

I actually purchased the white one. I got it from a dealer in Houston. The car was originally owned by Mo Vaughn (formerly of the boston red sox). He spent 136k for the car and then paid renntech 73k to modify it. Even at 4500 lbs, there are very few cars, outside of the Ford GT and the new Z06 Corvette that can stay with it. It must be a character flaw, but I still need more power. I've looked at NO2, but I'm afraid to blow the 50K dollar engine.

On Second Thought
You guys are right about boosting this lovely machine. 389hp should be enough, and it really is. As I always like to say, everything is a tradeoff... Nothing is ever free. I know I could get more out of it, but at the sacrifice of longevity. I mean, if Ford could get over 600hp out of a 3L engine, surely there is plenty more to be had out of the V12. Unfortunately, the Ford racer I'm talking about had an engine life of 10 hrs at fully throttle. A racer for sure. I would probably have to kill myself if I did something like that to this beauty I'm fortunate enough to own. It does pull hard, and is a joy to ride as-is. If almost 600hp isn't enough after getting it, nothing is. Thanks for talking some sense into me folks.
Happily,

I had a stock SL600 before the Renntech. I added the renntech cold air intake and the performance chip. Although it costs 2K, it did noticeably improve performance without sacrificing reliability. I think it added 45HP, and I installed it myself in about 2 hours. This is probably the only performance upgrade available for the V-12 that doesn't cost 20k or more.
