Question Oil Change Questions

Now that the warrenty has run out on my 1999 SL500 I don't feel the need to spend in excess of $250 for an oil change.

That said, how hard is it to change the oil?

Is is true that the filter is not a "spin-on" but rather that it has a paper carterage?

As I live in a small town there are not a lot of choices for parts stores and the local CarQuest store had two filters available. One was their house brand for about $14.00 and the other was what they called an OEM brand made in Germany by Henqst for about $10 (an E11H D50 filter). As I remember the dealership (stealership) charged me in excess of $35 for a filter, however, I don't know if it was a Mercedes brand on something else?

Any constructive advice would be greatly appreciated.

It very easy to change the oil yourself......... the filter is a paper carterage look something like this picture........ always buy OEM brand that made in Germany.......

If you're changing your oil, try out AMSOIL European Formula 5W-40.
