I just wanted to make a quick introduction. I just purchased a 1991 500SL, I've owned many different makes and models over the years but this is actually my first MB.
There are some issues with this SL that I can see from a quick overview, I'll get a better idea once I go through it well. It certainly needs a good cleaning and detail.
I've been searching the forum and have already found lots of great information and I look forward to contributing as I can.
I do have a question, this may be an AMG but I would like to confirm that. I know many of this vintage just have AMG badges, etc. but are actually regular 500SL's. Is there an online VIN search tool that I can use to help determine if this is an AMG? In searching this forum there was a link to a Russian VIN search site but that VIN search is "not in service".
I'll get some photos posted once I get it cleaned up a little.
